Position Title
Assistant Director for Alumni Engagement
Overview
Assist the Associate Director for Alumni and Employer Engagement in engaging alumni to create increased opportunities for students, in partnership with the Office of Institutional Advancement.
Essential Duties:
  • Assist the Associate Director with professional interaction/assistance for all alumni requests. Proactively conduct outreach to alumni volunteers for shadowing, mentoring, presenting to students, being a panelist, etc. Identify and connect with alumni employed in target organizations to develop paths for current students seeking internships and entry-level employment. Identify and connect with alumni who have attended advanced educational programs enabling them to provide advice on current students applying to those or similar programs. Develop a system for staff to request career assistance for alumni and/or for them to assist current students with proper tracking and response documentation with colleagues in the Institutional Advancement. Collaborate with Alumni Relations on co-sponsored programming. Attend occasional Alumni events (as determined by the supervisor) as a CCC presence and to engage alumni. Create new and enhance current alumni, parents, and organizational networks to increase internships and job opportunities for students.
  • Assist the Associate Director with processes to track alumni engagement. Provide data/reporting to Advancement and Student Affairs as needed. Develop a process to continue alumni engagement from year to year, providing internships and job opportunities for students. Track alumni participation in CCC events and appointments with career coaches. Monitor/create/approve alumni Handshake accounts to ensure appropriate labeling that allows them to set up coaching appointments. Assist with hiring by collecting hiring outcomes that are connected to alumni mentors.
  • Serve as a liaison between Institutional Advancement and CCC with a focus on enhancing existing relationships to further engage alumni with career programs that support the current needs of students.
  • Serve as a point of contact for alumni and parents who want to serve as a resource to current students. Provide a menu of services that alumni can take advantage of to assist current students. Serve as the point person for all alumni requests for career development services. Work with alumni on posting positions in Handshake. Assist supervisor in developing processes to highlight alumni positions to students.
  • Plan annual career fairs in spring and fall and connect with alumni who participate. Communicate with employers who attend the fairs to get a list of alumni who intend to participate and provide a list to Advancement. Further develop networking opportunities/events that allow students to interact with alumni. Assist with creating or identifying opportunities for engagement programming.
  • Serve as the point person for implementation, upkeep and engagement prompts for students and alumni for all purchased systems. Leverage existing technology platforms and programs to promote alumni for career advice.
Marginal Duties:
  • Perform all other duties as may be required.
Education and Experience Required
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required.
  • Three to five years’ experience in career development, corporate training, and/or mentoring college-age students or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Willingness to research and track information.
