4p to midnight shift; Would receive a set weekly schedule - would likely be Thursday to Monday weekly; May RARELY be asked to adjust to a different day in the week - but very rare

1.General job duties. Types of procedures required.

Working with adults with mental health issues to improve coping skills, symptom management, and daily living skills including cooking, cleaning, laundry, and hygiene.

Completion of general house cleaning duties including mopping, laundry, dish washing, wiping down surfaces. Complete documentation in Electronic Health Record.

Monitor self-administration of medication.

Working in adults with mental health issues such as bi-polar disorder, schizophrenia, ect. Goal is to get these residents back to living in the community successfully on their own.

Typical day would look like :

4pm - Most activity of the day at this time. Residential Advisor's role is to help residents with their daily chores. This could include cooking, cleaning (mopping, vacuuming, laundry, ect).

The residents each have their own chore to complete and the Residential Advisor is there to make sure residents are focused and get the chores get done appropriately.

5p - Dinner prep. One of the residents chore would be cooking and the Residential Advisor would be there for guidance in this.

5 : 40-6 : 10p - Clean up from dinner.

Complete check-ins with residents. The residents complete 2 weekly check-ins with the staff. These are 10-15 minute check-ins.

Staff is given prompts that help guide these check-ins with residents. Residents rate themselves on different things such as hygiene, chores, medication management and staff would rate the residents as well and document the check-in discussions.

7 : 15-8p - Medication monitoring. Residents are in charge of their own medications. They work with a pharmacy that has packaged daily medications for the residents.

The Residential Advisor is there to monitor and ensure the residents get and take the appropriate medications themselves.

8p - Snack and closing of kitchen.

Residential Advisor would complete documentation in EHR (Electronic Health Records). Would document shift and what was completed (Service documentation - if they helped a resident use different coping skills or assisted with chores, ect - these are services that were provided that should be documented.)

Throughout the remainder of the rest of the shift, Residential Advisor is there to assist as needed. This could include helping a resident who is having difficulty sleeping and helping them use coping skills to get to sleep, ect.

This role requires someone who can show initiative to complete minor housekeeping items, ect. throughout the rest of the shift.

There is always something that can be done and someone with initiative to take on those takes is required.

No driving involved in this role.

2.Equipment utilized in the unit / dept. (Is there computerized charting, medication systems, etc.)

Electronic health record, Echo Vantage

Microsoft Office applications

3.Required skills and minimum years of experience.

Typing, cleaning, empathy, initiative. No minimum years experience.

4.Specific licensures and certifications / registrations required. (ARRT, CRT, BLS, ACLS, etc)

Need both CPR and First Aid certifications.

5.Shift or schedule requirements. (Will the employee ever work alone? Is call required? If so, how often? Are weekends required?)

Employee will be only staff in house, other staff on campus. No call required.

8 hour evening shifts; 4pm to midnight; Would receive a set schedule (likely Thursday to Monday). May rarely be asked to adjust to a different day of the week, but this is very rare.

6.Floating to other units / departments. (If so, to which units / departments?)

May be asked to cover 2 houses themselves.

7.Bed size / number of rooms for this unit / dept.

9 rooms per house. Maximum around 12 residents per house.

There is a total of 4 houses on campus. There are also other buildings on campus such as main administrative building, maintenance buildings, ect.

May be asked to cover 2 houses themselves.

No security / cameras on campus. Residents can come and go as they would like - their stay is voluntary.

8. Dress Code :

No scrubs. Jeans and tennis shoes ok.

10.Tell us about the unit / department specific training and orientation program.

Agency training on how to help individuals with mental health issues. Orientation approximately three weeks. Will need CPR and First Aid certification.
