Position Summary:

Assists the enterprise level BIM/VDC Management function by preparation, organization and support of BIM departments’ software needs, including engineering & design, software development, systems testing, and tech support. Coordinates and assists in BIM software management duties in collaboration with design & IT team members.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for administration of CAD and PDM for configurations, software upgrades, environments, and licenses.
  • Investigate, develop, and implement methods to integrate the strengths of CAD software and PDM software into engineering, design, certification, and planning processes.
  • Interact and work alongside design teams to identify, streamline, design and support CAD environments and data management.
  • Work with IT & Design teams to automate inputs and processes from multiple existing enterprise-level tools.
  • Prepares requirements and provide technical expertise in evaluating, integrating and deploying CAD/PLM system solutions.
  • Interact and support integrations and data sharing amongst multiple engineering disciplines and departments, across multiple 2D & 3D design platforms.
  • Implement and support the internal tools, systems, and environments for product development groups using PDM/PLM and other software tools for CAD data and engineering documentation management.
  • Automate processes through standardized workflows, templates, and other means.
  • Investigate, develop, and implement methods to integrate the strengths of CAD and PDM software into engineering, design, certification, and planning processes.
  • Responsible for coordinating computer specifications requirements and occasional installation of software.
  • Train and mentor CAD users, document and communicate training materials and work instructions, and provide employee training for new versions of software.
  • Responsible for coordinating and complying with CAD data requirements as directed.
  • Conduct meetings with cross functional teams and other stakeholders as necessary.
  • Build excellent professional relationships with contractors, subs, and customers.
  • Continually update "best practices" for BIM.
  • Work with IT & Design teams to automate inputs and processes from multiple existing enterprise-level tools.

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science or Associate’s Degree; Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or Project Management with one year of related experience, OR equivalent education from a related vocational or technical school with two years of related experience and/or training, OR three years of related experience and/or training with an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Basic understanding of architectural, structural and MEP systems.
  • Knowledge of best engineering standards & practices.
  • A minimum of 3 years CAD/CAM experience with demonstrated proficiencies in:
    • AutoCAD 2D/3D; Required.
    • Inventor & vault; Required.
    • Solidworks PDM; Preferred.
    • Revit; Preferred.
    • Fabrication CADmep; Preferred.
    • Navisworks; Preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills along with good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products; Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc and be able to write clear and concise emails that effectively communicate the work scopes, actions and results to all stakeholders.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking, deductive reasoning and be able to work multiple projects simultaneously with workload planned out daily.
  • Ability to observe and maintain strict professional ethics, confidentiality and privacy in all company and 3rd party information.
  • Good time management, organizational and planning skills.
  • Must be a self-motivated contributing team member with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively use the software currently employed by this position; to include but not limited to: Autodesk software as described above, Solidworks, Navisworks, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Access, Bluebeam/PDF Editors, Procore, etc.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Will consider any licenses associated with IT/Software Engineering functions as well as, related to products listed above.
  • Travel expected no more than 10% of the time

The wage range for this position takes into account an array of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; education; experience and training; licensure and certifications; geographical location and other organizational needs. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $70,000.00 to $100,000.00.
