The Wellness Director (Resident Care Director) plans, develops, organizes, and directs the overall operations of the Wellness Department, in accordance with the Executive Office of Elder Affairs, with the objective of maintaining the highest quality of care at all times. They work with the Admission Team, resident, and family to interview, assess, and determine appropriateness for Assisted Living, and to develop an Individual Service Plan (ISP) aimed at coordinating the provision of services as identified in the ISP. The Wellness Director is responsible for working with the Executive Director, LPN’s and Resident Care Assistants for planning and organizing staffing adequate to meet resident needs: influencing, controlling and evaluating nursing service functions to provide optimum care for each individual resident. The Wellness Director is responsible for general supervision and overall coordination of the activity and projects of all disciplines as well as budgetary performance. Responsible for reviewing performance evaluations to Resident Care Assistance and LPN’s as well as disciplinary action when needed. Also during the course of duty the Wellness Director may be called upon to perform various practical nursing skills.

The Wellness Director interprets policies and procedures, communicates and ensures implementation and follow-through with staff. The Wellness Director, with the Executive Director, develops and maintains an implementation strategy for EOEA compliance and with the State and Federal Regulations governing assisted living residences.

The Wellness Director accomplishes this by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate staff:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Team First. Attitude is everything. Accepts assigned duties in a cooperative manner. Performs other related duties as directed by Executive Director.

Role Model: Assists staff in the provision of direct care to residents affords not only the opportunity to serve as a role model but also provides the Wellness Director the opportunity to assess Resident Care Assistants’ skills and a better recognition of the supports and constraints under which the staff function.

Resident Advocate: Function as liaison between staff and administration, staff and families, staff and service providers including physicians to promote optimal care for the resident on both a formal and informal basis.

Assesses potential residents and participates in the selection of residents to move into the community.

Develops Individual Service Plans including necessary ADL needs, IADL needs, physical, social and recreational assessments, prior to admission and biannually, as well as necessary.

Performs Resident Care Assistants’ training, skill assessment and/or reviews assessment, to meet the care needs of the residents, in accordance with EOEA requirements, and to ensure consistent implementation of the ISP.

Basic Requirements:

LPN, or RN with current license issued in the State of Massachusetts. A minimum of two years working with elders is required. Must have completed or be willing to complete educational requirements imposed by State regulation. Must present self in a professional manner, display genuine concern for seniors and tact in dealing with others. Must have excellent communication skills. Must demonstrate overall positive image, enthusiastic attitude, leadership abilities. Must have a valid driver’s license.
