Prospect Schools is Hiring a (SY24-25) Middle School Music/Musical Theater Teacher Near Brooklyn, NY

Brooklyn Prospect Charter School is seeking an enthusiastic and mission-driven Middle School Music Teacher for the 2024 - 2025 school year. This individual should have high expectations for student achievement and engagement in the arts, strong classroom management skills, and the ability to work creatively within space constraints. We are seeking an educator or teaching artist who is skilled in teaching ONE OF the following performing arts disciplines: vocal performance/chorus, musical theater, OR instrumentalism. This is an ideal position for someone who is excited about the charter movement and has a working background in educational settings.

About You:

Reporting to the Middle School Principal and Arts/Athletics Department Head, this teacher will help keep the academic and personal success of our students as a core focus, while striving to grow professionally and support a positive school community.

In this role, your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Teaching 4 sections of Middle School Music, which can encompass vocal performance/chorus, musical theater, and/or instrumentalist
  • Leading an advisory
  • Creating and design your own curriculum
  • Ongoing development and implementation of the academic program
  • Developing and implementing strategies to improve students’ skills
  • Ensuring that NYS and BPCS standards and benchmarks are being met
  • Collaborating with your colleagues in teaching and learning
  • Engaging in your own professional growth as well as the growth of your colleagues
  • Other duties as stated by the Principal

Education and Training:

Characteristics

  • New York State certification and master’s level education preferred; Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field required
  • Experience with the IB Middle Years Program (MYP) and/or Diploma Program (DP) is a plus
  • Must be comfortable with designing and implementing your own curriculum

Salary

  • Employees at Prospect Schools are provided with a competitive salary. Our salaries are set through a lens of equity, and based on an individual’s skills, education, and years of experience relevant to the role. The salary range for this role is from $61,000-$102,880, based on experience and years of education.
