Job Description - Dance Instructor
SUMMARY:
The Dance Instructor is responsible for the teaching of assigned and agreed upon dance classes.
The Dance Instructor work schedule will vary based on program participation, availability and dancer interest. Work hours may range from weekday, weeknights and weekends.
Dance Instructor will teach across multiple disciplines and skill levels; help develop, demonstrate and teach the participants and/or the competitive dance team(s) at weekly practices, community performances, local area competitions and annual Park District Dance recital(s).
QUALIFICATIONS:
A proven record of dance program participation. Any education related to dance performance and instruction is preferred. Must be a minimum of 16 years old.
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:
Supervisor of Recreation
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Teaching dance classes to a wide range of ages.
- Obtaining class lists for programs and take attendance each class meeting.
- Establish a curriculum that will establish a routine at the session ending dance recital.
- Perform all job tasks within the rules and guidelines of the District's safety program.
- Must be CPR/AED/First Aid certified within 6 months of hire (paid training provided by the park district)
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assisting with programs and special events.

- Worker must be able to function under loud and stressful conditions.

- Worker must demonstrate good safety awareness and judgment.
- Worker must be able to enforce dance procedures.
