PROSIGHT SPECIALTY INSURANCE HOLDINGS INC is Hiring a Director, Insurance Accounting Near Morristown, NJ

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the management of insurance and reinsurance accounting functions and supervision of team(3-5 staff members).
  • Coordinate the close calendar and closing of the ledger.
  • Responsible for all associated accounting, booking of underwriting activity related to insurance and reinsurance accounting, oversee reconciliation of UW accounts and working closely with finance units in preparation of the analysis of results.
  • Seamlessly partner cross-functionally with Actuarial, Ceded Reinsurance, UW, Program Executives, Customer Service, Premium Accounting, and Treasury to ensure process, controls and deliverables are high quality.
  • Assist the CFO and CAO by managing various projects with accuracy to completion.
  • Responsible for the establishment, maintenance, and documentation of internal controls related to insurance and reinsurance accounting to ensure ProSight remain in compliance.
  • Support annual internal and external audit and periodic state examination requirements.
  • Continuously enhance the processes and procedures related to the monthly close process through identifying efficiencies related to the acceleration of timing, reduction in errors, and elimination of manual approaches through automation.
  • Maintain ledger and act as liaison between finance and IT regarding ledger and subledger systems.
  • Manage or participate on projects as assigned.

 Qualifications

  • BS Degree in Accounting; CPA preferred
  • 7-12 years of prior experience in the property and casualty insurance industry; working knowledge of specialty insurance products a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products particularly Microsoft Excel
  • Prior experience in statutory (yellow book) and GAAP reporting.
  • Working knowledge of reinsurance accounting/risk transfer accounting requirements.
  • Supervisory/Management skills; effectively communicate with all levels of management, and employees.
