Job Summary
A Data Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of data within an organization. Their primary focus is on maintaining high-quality data that meets the standards and requirements of the business.
Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough analysis of data to understand its characteristics, patterns, and anomalies. This involves examining data structures, formats, and values to identify potential issues.
  • Implement processes and procedures to clean and correct data inconsistencies, errors, and inaccuracies. This may involve using automated tools or manual techniques to improve data quality.
  • Develop and execute validation processes to ensure data accuracy and integrity. This includes the validation of data inputs and outputs across different systems and processes.
  • Set up monitoring systems to continuously track and detect data quality issues. This allows for early identification of problems and timely corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with data governance teams to establish and enforce data quality standards, policies, and best practices. This involves defining data quality metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) for monitoring.
  • Create and maintain documentation related to data quality processes, standards, and guidelines. This documentation helps ensure consistency and provides a reference for data quality initiatives.
  • Work closely with data users, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand their data requirements and address any data quality concerns they may have.
  • Investigate and identify the root causes of data quality issues. This involves tracing data discrepancies back to their source and implementing corrective measures.
  • Conduct testing activities to validate data quality during the development and deployment of new data-related systems or processes.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for enhancing data quality and implementing improvements. This may involve suggesting changes to data collection processes, data storage structures, or data validation procedures.
  • Provide training and support to individuals involved in data-related processes to ensure a shared understanding of data quality principles and practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, computer information science, information technology, management information systems, or a related field from an accredited university.
  • Experience working with data--knowledge of data quality: profiling, cleansing, validation, and monitoring highly preferred.
  • Hands-on ability to work autonomously to problem-solve, as well as excellent analytical skills.
  • Strong technical documentation skills.
