The Controls Engineer for Zarpac employs analytical and problem-solving skills to assist in the design of comprehensive electrical controls systems for automated production lines in the packaging industry. The Controls Engineer is responsible for aiding in the overall design of the system including control panels and field devices, schematics detailing, and programming PLC, HMI and servos in accordance with industry and client guidelines. The position reports to the Electrical Engineering Manager and is located in our Greenville, SC offices. In this role you will...

  • Develop electrical field installation scopes of work
  • Detail electrical schematics, process flow diagrams, panel layouts, termination diagrams, and field wiring pull schedules in accordance with NEC, NFPA and UL specifications
  • Specify and develop component bills of materials, solicit vendor quotations and, with the assistance of purchasing, order components in accordance with manufacturing requirements
  • Troubleshooting controls related service calls either via phone or by traveling to customer location
  • System commissioning at customers facilities
  • Training maintenance and operations personnel in running and maintaining the production line

Who we're looking for?

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or similar discipline from an accredited institution or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley PLC’s, HMIs and Powerflex drives
  • 3 Years’ experience in electrical engineering related work preferred
  • Demonstrated electrical design skills using AutoCAD Electrical
  • Capable with computer software applications including MS Office and MS Project
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, documentation, and computer skills
  • Must be self-directed and resourceful, detail oriented and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Must be flexible to accept assignments in support of overall site goals
  • Must be able to influence individuals with and without supervisory authority and motivate others within an extended project team that includes outside contractors and vendors
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally approximately 35 to 40% of time; international customers will require off-normal hour interface
