Project Sentinel is Hiring a Case Manager/Outreach Coordinator Near Modesto, CA

TENANT/LANDLORD Dispute Resolution Program Case Manager and Outreach Coordinator Join our team and make a difference in people’s lives! Project Sentinel has been providing housing solutions and community mediation since 1976. We strive to promote fairness and equality of housing opportunities for all persons and advocate peaceful resolution of disputes for community welfare and harmony. We are seeking individuals who are compassionate about helping others in difficult situations and the ability to assist all parties involved with compassion and empathy.

The Case Manager and Outreach Coordinator interacts with both tenant and landlords to provide housing counseling, issues assessments, offers dispute resolution, as well as provides information and referrals. This is a full-time position (35 hours a week/7 hours per day), non exempt position, working from one of our offices throughout the Bay Area. Fluency in Spanish is required.

Responsibilities include:

a. Develop sufficient expertise in California state law, local ordinances and in dispute resolution subject matter to be able to provide counseling to clients with housing problems. b. To be knowledgeable of local resources sufficient to provide information and referral of appropriate resources to those in need.

c. Provide parties to a dispute with counseling, conciliation, or mediation referral sufficient for resolving the dispute/problem.

d. Maintain accurate and complete case management database records by providing information and referral records for all cases and calls. Maintains and monitors jurisdictional goals and statistics flowing out of the database.

e. Correctly follow procedures for follow-up activities, including program letters and emails sent to parties, with all necessary documents and attachments, in a timely manner.

f. Conduct community outreach and education on landlord/tenant issues to residents, non-profit agencies and other community organizations, and act as the agency liaison with government officials and other organizations.

g. Prepare and submit activity reports on a quarterly and annual basis to funding sources.

h. Work cooperatively with other case managers to achieve agency objectives, including attending weekly staff meetings, and working on special team and individual projects to further the mission of the agency.

i. Perform other miscellaneous work as assigned, including answering phones, recording and compiling data, attending meetings and participating in training programs.

j. Assist in other projects as needed assigned by the Program Director.

Qualifications ▪ Candidate must have a desire to work and interact with, as well as demonstrate respect for, individuals and groups without regard to race, religion, sex, color, national origin, sexual orientation, familial status, or disability. ▪ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience of at least a year. ▪ Intake or phone counseling experience highly desirable. ▪ Excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills. Fluent in Spanish. ▪ Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office software) ▪ Organized and able to maintain accurate records with attention to detail. ▪ Highly motivated and capable of working in a busy environment. ▪ Capacity to work without close supervision, with an active case load and short timelines. ▪ Willingness to occasionally participate in evening and weekend events is expected. ▪ Valid DL and insurance policy.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: This position is a full-time, non-exempt position. Salary range for 35-hour workweek: $28-$30.
