The Team and Job Summary

JS Held is hiring for a Project Director to join its team within the Environmental Health and Safety practice. This position will focus on energy and infrastructure projects with the overall responsibility of performing initial environmental due diligence, impact assessment and project permitting. This role will be supported by a team of environmental professionals that have expert skills to complete the overall scopes of work. The position will require an understanding of the complexities for derisking capital projects and will require a broad knowledge base from which to draw experience.
The successful candidate must be capable of managing varying priorities to provide high-quality project deliverables completed on time and within budget. The candidate will need to demonstrate initiative and critical thinking to customize work approaches, present information, and issue resolutions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manages multiple large and complex projects, either single or multi-site
  • Collaborates with the management team on staffing requirements and provides leadership on multiple projects concurrently
  • Acts as client point of contact for each project
  • Leads an inter-disciplinary team that will support and assist with each program or scope of work
  • Writes technical proposals and detailed scopes of work
  • Prepares and submits budget requirements to complete tasks
  • Performs QA/QC on project reports submitted for review as part of a review team
  • Prepares studies and reports following standard formats and procedures
  • Generates technical proposals and cultivate relationships with existing clients.
  • Leads strategic meetings with regulatory agencies to address regulatory and/or legislative requirements
  • Contributes technical, subject matter or project management expertise on deliverables
  • Builds and maintains a highly ethical practice and reputation
  • Demonstrates outstanding customer relationship management skills
  • Travels to project sites during certain phases of project execution

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Science, Geology or Engineering
  • At least 15 years of environmental impact assessment, due diligence and natural resources permitting experience within US based capital projects
  • The ideal person for this role will need to not only have a strong grasp of environmental consulting but also be flexible and a strategic thinker able to take on a variety of tasks
  • Deep experience with federal, state, and local permitting within the United States.
  • Strong working experience in MS Office Suite software.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare concise and accurate technical documents.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a collaborative member of a project team.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Good business judgement skills and teamwork oriented
  • Strong financial management skills to keep projects on budget
