Summary:
Project HOPE is lookingfor a Taxonomy and Information Architecture Intern. The Intern will support thepublishing taxonomy and discoverability strategy of theHealth Affairs Marketing & Digital Team. S/he/they will gain valuableknowledge and experience about scholarly publishing taxonomy and metadata, leveraging a taxonomy toimprove website user experience, and working with a technology vendor. S/he/they will alsogain a deeper understanding of specific humanitarian crisis as well as NGO, UNand USG responses.

Responsibilities:
Help the Health Affairs taxonomy working group identify and assess candidate terms for new topics in health policy related to our publications.
Identify regular process for ingesting new keywords into the Health Affairs taxonomy.
Unpack the information architecture related to topics on healthaffairs.org and make a critical comparison to related strategies on peer websites.
Use site analytics tools to analyze user behavior and needs.
Recommend user interface changes to help users discover relevant content.
Other duties and tasks as assigned.
Learning Outcomes:
Learn about taxonomy, keyword research, discoverability, and best practices for maintaining metadata for a scholarly publication and related digital content.
Gain experience in applying a taxonomy to a website and using that structure to improve user experience and promote engagement.
Use tools like Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and Hotjar to analyze user behavior and UX.
Learn how to write Jira tickets that define work requirements for a technology vendor.
Qualifications:
Experience with information science, data analysis, taxonomy research, SEO best practices, information architecture, or website design
Strong problem solving and conceptual thinking abilities
General understanding of databases, classifications, and systems
Ability to clearly communicate technical topics to audiences of all levels of expertise
Comfort learning new tools and techniques related to data research and analytics
Junior or Senior Undergraduate
Graduate Student Preferred
Strong research, writing, and editing skills
Ability to multi-task and prioritize various tasks in a fast-paced work environment
Ability to work effectively and accurately with MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and internet applications
Ability to work productively in a team environment as well as under minimal supervision, taking the initiative to ask questions as needed
