Position Summary:

As a Medical Records and Communications Coordinator, this person will facilitate the management of all patient record requests at the New York Proton Center. This person will also answer patient questions and educate them on the Intake process at the New York Proton Center. Additional responsibilities include updating patients and facilities on record requests, confirming insurance details and referral status, receiving, and redirecting phone calls, uploading, organizing records, managing patient demographics, monitoring patient and physician communication, and other administrative responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with physician, patients, Intake & Revenue Cycle teams
  • Prepare patient charts and gather information and documents for new patients
  • Answer, screen and forward incoming Intake phone calls
  • Facilitate communication between potential patients and NYPC team members
  • Ensure that the medical records are organized, accurate and complete
  • Responsible for coordinating the release of medical information to insurance companies, law firms, subpoenas, court orders and medical facilities
  • Transfer data into the facility’s main system database
  • Scan and record patient information
  • Comply with all New York Proton Center policies related to Privacy Rules established under the Health Information Privacy and Portability Act of 1996 (HIPAA)
  • Complete medical record requests for physician teams
  • Perform other job-related duties, as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of one-year medical office experience, required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong attention to detail

The salary range and/or hourly rate displayed is a determination of base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
