Progressive Union Missionary Baptist Church is Hiring a Child Development Center Director Near Huntsville, AL

Progressive Union Missionary Baptist Church is seeking a full-time Child Development Center Director to join our team! The Center Director is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and quality of education, for all children within the center’s care. The Center Director is directly accountable for overall operational management in accordance with well-established guidelines, including curriculum development, staff and facilities management, legal and budgetary considerations, training and professional development of staff, and long-range planning. The Center Director ensures that the needs of the students and the goals of the center are met appropriately. The candidate must be available Monday - Friday 6 am to 6 pm.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Establish quality vision for the center. Manage adherence to quality standards in accordance mission and with Department of Human Resources (DHR), Office of School Readiness (OSR), and Child Nutrition Program (CNP) polices, procedures, and guidelines.

2. Develop general educational curriculum; collaborate with staff to develop positive learning activities; manage adherence to state and local regulations.

3. Maintain student records in accordance with established enrollment procedures and guidelines.

4. Maintain communications with parents of current and prospective students through direct conversation, newsletters, ClassDojo, social media platforms, and parent handbook; implement community outreach activities to maintain and promote positive community relationships.

5. Create weekly menus in compliance with CNP guidelines, place pickup order for cook, and ensure all reports and documentation are completed accurately and submitted on time.

6. Maintain positive relationships with regulatory agencies; ensure legal and financial compliance.

7. Plan, organize, and implement programs, fundraisers, field trips, and family engagement activities.

8. Oversee all office functions including payroll, accounts payable and receivable, tuition billing and payment, human resources and personnel management (staff supervision) and purchasing.

9. Resolve conflicts (including corrective action when necessary) to ensure a positive experience for everyone.

10. Provide updates to Director of Operations and CDC Board of Officers

11. Manage budget planning and review.

12. Knowledgeable of illness and emergency procedures; ensure staff is trained appropriately.

13. Develop professional development and training plans to ensure the continued growth of center staff.

14. Other duties as assigned by Director of Operations and/or CDC Board of Officers

Additional Knowledge and Skills Required:

1. Strong oral and written communications skills; basic computer skills.

2. Ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.

3. A strong understanding of child development.

4. Strong finance and budgeting skills.

5. Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

6. CPR and First Aid Certification or ability to obtain within first 30 days of hire.

7. Must clear fingerprint background check. Candidate will be required to cover the cost of the fingerprint background check and will be eligible for reimbursement upon their one-year work anniversary.

8. Must clear the Child Adult Neglect background check (CAN).

9. Must pass health screening.

10. Must complete 12 hours of training within the first 30 days of hire.

Educational and Experience Requirements (per DHR and OSR):

The Center Director shall have responsibility for the day-to-day operation and management of the center including supervision of the planning and implementing of the children's daily activities, supervision of staff, and responsibility for maintenance of the center. The director must have at least 20 clock hours of training in administration and management and at least 4 hours of training in quality childcare. In addition, the center director must meet ONE of the following training categories:

1. 120 clock hours of training in childcare; high school diploma or GED, at least 12 hours of working experience as a childcare worker/teacher or director/program director in a licensed daycare center or Department approved setting. Training in childcare shall include at least 20 clock hours in each of these areas:

· child development

· health, safety, and universal precautions

· quality childcare and licensing

· childcare and professional and family

· language development

· positive discipline and guidance

OR

2. A child development associate credential (CDA) or a certified childcare professional certificate (CCP) from the National Childcare Association Inc. (NCCA) and a high school diploma or general educational diploma (GED); at least 12 hours working experience as a childcare worker/teacher or as a director/program director in a licensed daycare center or a department approved setting.

OR

3. An associate degree in child development or early childhood education from a post-secondary school (technical, vocational, junior/community college), and at least 9 hours of working experience as a childcare worker/teacher or as a director/program director in a licensed daycare center or a department approved setting.

OR

4. A bachelor's degree in child development or early childhood education and at least 6 months of working experience as a childcare worker/teacher or as a director/program director in a licensed daycare center or a department approved setting
