Progressive New Homes is Hiring a Full Charge Bookkeeper - New Homes Construction Near Wayne, PA

Regional home-building and residential development company seeks an accounting professional to provide full charge bookkeeping and administrative support services. The position is varied and fast-paced and requires flexibility to take on challenges and tasks presented. Duties include:

Bookkeeping

  • Accounts payable for six to eight moderately active entities using Quickbooks Contractor Pro software
  • Cost coding invoices based on understanding of class codes and item codes in Quickbooks and general understanding of cost accounting.
  • Monthly bank reconciliations and bank balances for company accounts.
  • Record bank deposits and make deposits at bank
  • Record journal entries for settlements of homes, referring to the project proforma and settlement sheets prepared by others
  • Make adjusting journal entries as needed,
  • Fluent understanding of debits and credits and general ledger
  • Keep business records up to date and flag and resolve any inconsistencies between the books and the business accounts.
  • Balance monthly credit card statements, coding entries and billing back to development entities as appropriate.
  • Project cash flow and flag any anticipated shortfalls·
  • Prepare monthly internal financial statements for companies for all companies
  • Prepare books for outside CPA to produce tax returns.
  • Issue 1099s for vendors and consultants at end of the year, as necessary.
  • Ensure certificates of insurance for subcontractors and vendors are on file and current
  • Maintain current files and binders of back up invoices and contracts
  • Ensure books stay aligned with relevant laws

Construction Support

  • Provide accurate cost reports to Development Associate for projects under construction. Flag any patterns or concerns.
  • Work with General Contractor or Development Associate to complete applications for building permits and use and occupancy permits and procure from township in a timely manner
  • At construction manager’s direction, make calls to subcontractors as needed concerning schedule or problems. Research and order products and materials that General Contractor, Development Associate or President may need.
  • ·Interact with customers on legacy warranty requests. Field and transmit inquiries from homeowners post-settlement to applicable subcontractors.
  • Work with General Contractor to track outstanding customer service lists post settlement. Generate outstanding status reports of warranty items

HR/Office·

  • Call in bi-weekly payroll to third party payroll service with appropriate changes in withholdings if needed.
  • Ensure that quarterly filings, annual W-2s and other reporting are done by payroll service.
  • Track vacation days of employees, enroll new employees in benefits; cancel benefits for terminated employees. Interact with 401K company and benefits companies as necessary.·
  • Be comfortable with computer, phone, and copy equipment and with trouble-shooting problems including software issues.

Qualifications:·

  • Minimum 5 years demonstrated experience in bookkeeping and accounting, preferably in residential construction or related industry.
  • Minimum 2 years Associates degree with preference for 4 year undergraduate degree; demonstrated accounting course work.
  • Proficiency in Quickbooks (preferably Contractor Pro Edition), Microsoft Excel and MS Office suite;
  • Ability to self-start and prioritize tasks and projects with little supervision.
  • Ability to communicate and work independently as well as part of a team
  • Reliable vehicle with good driving record and evidence of adequate insurance.
  • Detail oriented with high degree of accuracy
  • Familiarity with the construction industry a plus

Reporting Relationships:Candidate reports to President; works with Development Associate

Working Environment: Corporate office in Wayne, PA. No remote work.

Work Hours: Monday through Friday 10:00 am to 4:00 pm or as agreed. Four days per week arrangement possible. Number of hours per week negotiable.

Compensation: Hourly rate depending on experience. W-2 employee. bi-weekly payroll.

Pay: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour
