The company serves Fortune 500 companies in industries such as food processing, films, fibers, plastics, paper, chemicals, tobacco, pharmaceuticals, power, metals, wastewater treatment, and discrete manufacturing.General Responsibilities: Mechanical Engineers are responsible for performing engineering duties on assigned projects including equipment specifications, process piping, material handling and conveying, HVAC, and other mechanically related engineering and design.Practical Application of Responsibilities:Direct customer interface and coordinationDevelop study reports, bids, proposals, scopes of work, P&IDs, estimates, schedules, material lists, design concepts, scope change documents, correspondence, and other project documentation per customer and corporate guidelinesManage scope, schedule, and budgetManage the engineering and design process from inception to completion. This includes: leading projects, work planning, directing and overseeing designers and engineers assigned to your projects, design reviews (both internal and with client), and checking deliverables (calculations, drawings, technical reports)Size and specify typical process equipment such as pumps, tanks, chemical reactors, heat exchangers, chillers, condensers, mixers, etc.Perform calculations to size and specify process, service and utility piping systemsPerform calculations to size and specify safety relief devicesReview equipment submittals for accuracy and validate against specificationsMaintain familiarity with various industrial codes such as ASME and APIVisit customer sites for field workAssist in commissioning and start upReport to Process/Mechanical Department ManagerRequirements:BS in Mechanical Engineering10 years of heavy industrial experience in a design or project engineering role.Must have experience in the chemical, pharmaceutical, food & beverage, or bio-processing industriesProject management experienceExperience working in a multidiscipline engineering consulting firmProcess safety experience (PHAs, HAZOPs, Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, Inherently Safer Design, Documentation to support process safety, etc.)Current working knowledge of safety relief device code requirements, calculations, sizing and system design proceduresCurrent working knowledge of mechanical engineering principles with an emphasis on fluid mechanics, mass and heat transfer, and thermodynamicsWorking knowledge of incorporating safety, maintainability, constructability, and operational requirements into the design processMust be technically sound, and be willing to mentor junior engineersStrong communication and organizational skillsStrong ethics and corporate loyaltyMust be results orientedMust be a team playerMust possess uncompromised commitment to qualityMust be US citizenPreferred Requirements:Virginia Professional EngineerBenefits:We offer a fast paced, exciting work environment with a competitive compensation package including: Health Care Benefits, Vacation, 401K and tuition reimbursement.https://jobs.lever.co/progressive-design/daac49f0-9f68-43f6-b7f9-2f61edd34889
