Progressive AE is Hiring a Senior Traffic Engineer - Relocation Available Near Grand Rapids, MI
YOUR ROLE: Progressive AE is seeking to add a Senior Traffic Engineer to our growing team. This individual will utilize their extensive background in design and development of documents to be a leader within the infrastructure group. This will entail acting as a project manager for transportation projects to oversee completion of plan design and production, including preparation of design documents, studies, and plans. You will help establish the standards for all phases of the design process and ensure internal quality assurance and control. To drive success for the organization, you will collaborate closely with our clients, contractors, and other disciplines within Progressive AE. The position also includes development of our staff through technical mentoring and professional development. WHAT YOU WILL DO: Own transportation engineering project scope, schedule, and budget, and mentor others in schedule and budget creation. Actively participate in setting project goals. Establish project delivery teams, coordinating in-house and consultant services. Create and edit contract for consultant services. Mentor staff in developing attributes and experience that will strengthen their knowledge and facilitate their career growth. Develop talent within the organization, as well as recruit externally and network within the industry to expand the practice. Actively pursue and participate in state and national industry organizations, as well as providing thought leadership through leadership roles, articles and blogs, speaking engagements, etc. Manage multiple projects in a timely and accurate manner, including: Oversee or develop traffic simulation models using Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, Rodel, and/or Sidra.Leading project teams, assign duties to other team members, and monitor overall project progress.Review designs and complete field investigation to diagnose problems.Develop reports and preliminary concepts and full design phase deliverables including drawings, specifications, cost estimates, quantity take-offs, technical reports, narratives, and permit applications.Conduct traffic analyses to support feasibility studies, operation studies, safety studies, traffic signal optimization, and traffic signal warrant studies.Attend public meetings when required. Consult with regulatory agencies when necessary. Prepare engineering proposals. Provide input on anticipated complexity and hours needed to complete work in order to help general proposals for new work. Serve the client’s best interest and maintain positive relationships. Actively lead new business development and participate in cross team marketing and selling. Follow up on leads and lead interviews. YOUR QUALIFICATIONS: Your Degree: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. Your Knowledge and Experience: PE License or ability to obtain. PTOE certification is desirable. Minimum 10 years of experience performing traffic analyses and preparing impact studies. Ability to meet requirements for key MDOT pre-qualifications. Demonstrated experience in the following: Quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) processes. Preparation of traffic studies. Keeping up to date on codes, regulations and engineering standards, along with assisting in conducting research for requirements that may need to be incorporated into technical documents. Coordinating and integrating work with architects, designers, engineers, construction administrators, planners, consultants, authorities having jurisdiction, and other members of a project team. Project management including: Overseeing team members and driving for successful outcomes Independently prioritizing and managing multiple projects of complex nature while working professionally with internal and external stakeholders. Communicating professionally to people both internally and externally within all levels of the organization(s) they represent, including participation in proposals and interviews. Your Technical Skills: Experience with Synchro/SimTraffic required. Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation preferred. Experience with Rodel, Sidra, and HCS, Miovision DataLink, PETRAPro, STARNext, and PC Travel preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook required. Experience in Project, SharePoint, and Teams preferred.
