SHOP FLOOR SUPERVISOR

1ST SHIFT
Directs and coordinates activities of workers engaged in production, fabrication, finishing, packing, shipping, and receiving, of products. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work: appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Follows all company established methods, policies, rules, practices, and procedures to ensure employee safety, product quality and efficient operations.
2. Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials.
3. Directs training and coaching of workers to improve work performance and acquaint workers with company policies and procedures.
4. Establishes group and individual accountabilities through assigned departments for problem solving and cost reduction.
5. Improve manpower utilization within existing departments and processes.
6. Manage spending against budget and in relation to changes in production volume.
7. Ensures that employee grievances are addressed in a timely fashion.
8. Continually improve safety records by addressing both physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes. Maintain and improve housekeeping in all areas.
9. Maintains individual skills keeping up to date with latest production and production management concepts.
10. Maintains an Open Door Policy.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Industrial Management or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
