Engineering Design Standards Specialist

Pella, Iowa - Full Time

Productive Resources (www.productiveresources.com) is seeking a candidate to be part of our engineering team at our customer's facility in Pella, IA. As a member of our team, the selected candidate will be an Engineering Design Standards Specialist and will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of its products. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining engineering design guidelines and standards that govern the design and manufacturing processes across product lines. This position requires a keen understanding of engineering principles, materials science, manufacturing processes, and industry best practices.

This is a full-time position that is indefinite in duration with the opportunity of professional growth, and additional opportunities within our organization.

Duties:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, and product management to establish engineering design guidelines and standards.
  • Research and evaluate materials suitable for various components and applications.
  • Define design parameters such as tolerances, clearances, surface finishes, and geometric dimensions to ensure optimal performance, functionality, and manufacturability.
  • Establish standard fastener specifications including types, sizes, grades, and torque values for use in equipment assemblies.
  • Document and disseminate best practices, design guidelines, and standards through written documentation, training materials, and internal communication channels.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to review and approve engineering designs, resolve design-related issues, and support product development initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in engineering design, preferably in the manufacturing or heavy equipment industry.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, materials selection, and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical specifications and standards.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and other engineering tools is desirable.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision.

Preferred Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, or related field preferred.
