Description

Are you interested in manual machining? Production Castings is looking for a candidate that is interested in growing their career as a Tool & Die Maker and wants to train as an apprentice within the tool room environment.

• Set up and operate one or more different types of manual machines such as mills, lathes, grinders, and Bridgeports. 

• You will machine somewhat diversified parts for tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges to close tolerances. 

• You will follow standard work methods or detailed instructions, where setups are exacting but usually not difficult.

• Select speeds, feeds and tooling for a normal range of operations. 

• Upon further training must be able to set up and perform a normal range of operations of various types of machine tools to close tolerances, requiring care in tool settings and machining methods. 

• Work of a difficult or unusual nature has been planned and laid out by others and involves use of ordinary materials. 

• Responsible for accuracy of work completed.

Qualifications & Benefits

• Must be able to understand dimensions and drawing details as work instruction.

• Attention to detail and an eye for quality with care in workmanship.

• Willingness to take instruction and perform consistently while gaining proficiency.

• Ability to learn the use of bending equipment and principals of specific shop equipment and procedures.

• Willingness to learn both types of cutting dies, rotary and flat, and stripping dies if required.

• Willingness to learn and perform other tasks as needed within the shop, cross training to improve shop efficiency. 

• Follows all safety rules and demonstrates safety awareness.

• Demonstrated reliability.

• Good written and verbal communication skills encouraged.

Experience working with tools preferred, or experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.
