MACHINIST II

We are the Premier service provider for Emerson/Fisher control valves. As an authorized assembler of Emerson's Anderson Greenwood, Crosby, and Kunkle valves, Atlantic Valve Services plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of critical processes for our valued customers throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region. 

In addition to safety relief valves, our experienced technicians can repair all types of control valves including sliding stem and rotary as well as isolation valves including gate, globe, ball, butterfly, and check valves. AVS also has the ability to clean all types of valves and instrumentation to our client’s demanding standards.

Our ability to diagnose operational issues with all types of valves allows us to make upgrade and modification recommendations that will improve performance, including but not limited to metallurgy upgrades, bellows installation, stem extensions, and gearbox sizing.

Summary:

Atlantic Valve Services is seeking a skilled Machinist I to perform manual machining, finishing, and assembly operations on various parts, tooling, and fixtures. The ideal candidate will have experience in repairing valve parts and bodies, ensuring high-quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of all safety requirements and practices.
  • Operate a variety of manual and numerically controlled machine shop equipment, including but not limited to cylindrical and surface grinding, burring, blasting, and engine lathes.
  • Interpret specifications and design criteria from verbal instructions, drawings, and blueprints; perform standard shop computations related to dimensions of work and tooling.
  • Machine parts from bar stock and raw castings, ensuring the maintenance of critical dimensions during repairs.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments to maintain accurate dimensional tolerances as per drawings.
  • Develop production aides to streamline operations when necessary.
  • Rework and calibrate production parts, assemblies, and machine tooling; verify the accuracy of each component post-machining.
  • Document and provide all required reports and correspondence.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years of machining experience.
  • Proficient in machining from bar stock and raw castings, with the ability to maintain precision and quality.
  • Graduation from a machinist school or equivalent military experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with horizontal lathes, VTL, milling machines, boring mills, and drill presses is advantageous.

Physical Requirements:

  • Capable of working in a general shop environment.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Willingness to travel and perform field work, depending on experience level.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to comprehend and adhere to all safety requirements and cautions.
