PROCON is Hiring an Estimator Near Rocky, VA

Position Summary

This position will play a critical role in our company’s success as it fulfills the mission to secure a healthy, profitable backlog. As part of the pre-construction team, a competent estimator will work to compile a clear picture of the scope of a project, the costs associated with its completion and the keys to success for both our customers and our field teams. An eye for detail, strong communication skills and the ability to manage priorities, all while keeping Procon’s values at the center, will make an excellent candidate for this position. All employees are expected to adhere to policies and procedures outlined in the Procon Employee Handbook and Corporate Safety Manual and behave in a manner that aligns with Procon’s Values.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Meet schedules and deadlines as set by supervisor or as needed for projects
  • Follow all policies and procedures as set forth in Employee Handbook and Corporate Safety Program

Pre-bid phase

  • Coordinate with pre-construction team and provide recommendations on which projects to bid
  • Review all bid documents
  • Maintain awareness of addenda and document changes
  • Secure vendor pricing
  • Communicate with customers to clarify any questions about scope of work, plans and specifications

Bidding phase

  • Perform takeoff
  • Estimate costs to perform work
  • Write detailed proposals
  • Re-evaluate and re-submit updated proposals as necessary

Post-bid phase

  • Participate in scope review with customers
  • Hand off budget and project information to project teams for any jobs that are awarded
  • Provide support for project teams on large scale change orders as needed

Qualifications, Competencies and skills:

  • Ability to read and understand plans required
  • Moderate to advanced knowledge of Excel or equivalent program required
  • 3D modeling experience preferred
  • OSHA 10
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills
  • Strong clerical and documentation skills required
  • Strong verbal communication skills required
  • Strong written communication skills required - includes details such as formatting and spelling
  • Ability to provide reasons for actions and decisions - do not work on assumptions
  • Estimating and takeoff experience required
  • Moderate computer skills required
  • Timeliness and dependability
  • Knowledge of building/structure types preferred
  • Knowledge of industry materials preferred
  • 1 Year Take-off and concrete estimating experience strongly preferred

Pay: $45,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
