POSITION SUMMARY: Able to assist in and support the building/assembly of large-scale steel structures and equipment parts using blueprint drawings as directed by Fitter or supervisor. Capable of assisting in rigging and lifting techniques with overhead crane. Open to learning and becoming proficient with stick and flux-core welding procedures. Able to assist in the performance of fitting techniques such as measuring, shrinking, stretching, grinding, hand burning, etc. Must be capable of operating machines to produce large mechanical and structural parts, and confirm tight tolerances using measurement techniques and tools, with the capability to learn to read and interpret blue prints.
RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:
Build Steel Structures

• Capable of learning to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to assist and support the assembly of large structural and mechanical fabrications
• Perform work with understanding and ability to operate various hand and power tools
• Keep your work areas cleaned up
• Analyze diagrams and specifications and cut/form plate metal as required with applicable equipment
• Evaluate finished products and perform quality checks on products
1. Safety
• Perform required workplace and equipment pre-shift inspections
• Tell the Foreman and/or Manager of any safety hazards
• Participate in the Continuous Improvement of the operation
• Administer all duties in a safe and efficient manner
2. Do any other work as assigned and trained to do

• Perform required workplace and equipment pre-shift or post-shift inspections

Physical Demands include, but are not limited to:

• Access all areas within a site which could include heights, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs.
• Will be working at times in office environment but mainly in a manufacturing environment.
• The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Mineral Particles.
• The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing and sitting.
• Ability to consistently lift over 50 pounds as needed
