In-House Service Technician – Job Description

We currently have an opening for an In-House Service Technician at our business unit in Horsham, PA. This role reports to the Service Manager and will be based onsite in the Horsham facility.

The In-House Service Technician is a key position that is recognized as a critical function for business success. The ideal candidate for this position will have proven ability to perform duties related to diagnosing troubleshooting, repair, modification, service/preventative maintenance and installation of parts and assemblies.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide prompt and quality calibration and repair services for all products as received from incoming customer RMA’s
  • Evaluate returned units.
  • Complete all service documentation and database input accurately to ensure records are up to date and contain sufficient data to generate service quotes for customer
  • Assemble, test, and repair components upon receipt of customer approval
  • Provide technical assistance and phone support to customers (internal and external), as required.
  • Contribute to Service growth by providing your product knowledge to develop sales/service leads and to recommend product applications.
  • Follow written, verbal and demonstrated steps and instructions.
  • Use common hand tools.
  • Use laboratory equipment such as volt meters, oscilloscopes, and similar equipment.
  • Clean parts and assemblies manually and/or by automated equipment.
  • Clean and maintain work area to 5S requirements.
  • Work with quality department to ensure parts/assemblies meet specifications.
  • Read schematics and technical orders to determine methods and sequence of assembly operations.
  • Tests functional performance of completed assemblies using test equipment.
  • Perform detailed work in an accurate and organized manner.
  • Establish and maintain interpersonal relationships by developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintaining them over time.
  • Effectively use our ERP system for tracking equipment movement, inventory transactions, report running, note taking, etc.
  • Keep track of in-house revenue in collaboration with others onsite
  • Use Microsoft products such as Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
  • Applies equal amounts of skills and dedication to all other duties as assigned.
  • Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs, and moving your whole body, such as lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.

Requirements

Qualifying Attributes and Skills:

  • Associate degree in Electronics or equivalent combination of education and experience. 2 years’ experience in bench repairs preferable.
  • Must have good communication skills and be able to effectively communicate company and product information to external and internal customers.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Ability to use measurement tools to inspect parts (i.e. calipers, dial gages, micrometers, etc.)
  • High level understanding of design engineering requirements and compliant system requirements. Ability to read blueprints and specifications.
  • Ability to read, interpret and comprehend engineering prints / assembly drawings / BOM’s.
  • Understand the engineering and quality management system processes to ensure compliance to ISO regulations.
  • Demonstrates ability to learn new technologies.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines.
  • Strong problem solving and time management skills, a results-oriented work ethic, and ability to work alone with limited direct supervision.
  • Fiscal and financial awareness is a must. Attention to cost and expense matters.
  • Willingness to assist with tasks, even when the work is out of the scope of responsibilities.
  • Technical proficiency a must
  • Ability to understand Component Lists, Electrical Schematics, Piping & Instrumentation.
  • Diagrams (P&IDs), Fabrication Drawings, Piping Isometrics, and General Arrangement Drawings.
  • Ability to work with a technical staff and customers with varying experience levels.
  • Work involves frequent lifting of materials up to 35 pounds.
  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.
  • Requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots.
