As the Senior Department Manager for Application, Formulation and Product Development, based in Lund, Sweden, you are heading the area of application, formulation and product development for Probi worldwide, with the responsibility to set the company directions within such activities, both strategically and tactically.

Key responsibilities:

People Leadership

Lead and develop the global “Application, Formulation, and Product Development” team. Ensure their expertise aligns with the development of commercially viable finished products and maintains high research quality.

Best Practices Implementation:

Organize the team around standardized practices for product formulation development and project management. This includes timeline planning, resource allocation, cost/benefit analysis, and milestone tracking.

Talent Management:

Recruit and retain top talent to meet future business needs. Set clear performance metrics and provide feedback. Promote people development to foster personal growth and maintaining high levels of productivity.

Strategic Leadership:

Create a focused strategy for Product Development & Application, emphasizing relevant competencies and capabilities in alignment with the commercial strategy and global market trends. Bring the consumer experience perspective into development projects to create customer centric solutions.

Innovation Support:

Drive cross-functional innovation within Probi, emphasizing science-driven approaches to application, formulation, and product development.

Product Development:

Lead programs from inception to implementation, gathering input from internal and external sources to define product concepts. Oversee the team and deliver product development oversight, ensuring quality and regulatory compliance and long-term stability. Drive for modification and innovation of existing products.

Project Management:

Maintain project timelines, ensuring key milestones are met. Proactively follow up with Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs) on project statuses. Communicate changes, additional details, and risks.

Strategic Contributions:

In collaboration with commercial colleagues present Probi’s scientific and product development capabilities to customers. Stay informed about emerging technology and trends. Establish academic and industry collaborations for short-, medium-, and long-term product development.

Requirements:

• Sc. or equivalent in a life-science related field. Ph.D. or an additional leadership diploma/degree or education a plus
• 15 years strategic R&D and commercialization experience
• Capability in leading people and developing teams in a multinational environment.
• In-depth experience and knowledge with developing food supplements and/or products containing probiotics
• Innovative thinking and entrepreneurial drive for marketable solutions
• Extensive experience working collaboratively with R&D, Sales and Marketing
• Excellent communication (written and verbal) and people skills, attention to detail, and demonstrated ability to implement processes
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• May require up to 15% travel
