Full job description

Under the direction of the Director of Client Relations, Medicaid Waiver Coordinator will, perform a wide variety of activities designed to support the team. Also, responsible for ensuring substantial compliance with the Federal requirements for the Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Waiver including compliance with agency requirements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Communicate directly with Director of Client Relations regarding Medicaid Waiver-related issues.

Provide the Director of Client Relations, Medicaid Waiver information regarding staff responsiveness to Medicaid Waiver guidelines.

Effectively provide routine consultation and communicate findings to case management staff regarding case records.

Keep Director of Client Relations, Medicaid Waiver informed of pending work, work in progress, and problems encountered.

Work cooperatively and effectively with others. Perform as a member of the team, answer questions, share expertise and contribute to the harmony of the team.

Handle change well and be flexible and adaptable in dealing with interruptions, new priorities and new assignments.

Comply with and ensure program compliance with agency’s Personnel Policies and Procedures.

Problem-solve and troubleshoot work issues reporting to the Program Manager, Medicaid Waiver.

Initiates and maintains open communication with community, service providers and stakeholders. Assists, as assigned, with investigations of incidents and/or complaints regarding agency services providers. Participates in workshops, training sessions and meetings as assigned. Provides technical assistance to Medicaid waiver providers as needed/directed by the Director of Client Relations.

Use personal industry knowledge, connections, business expertise, public policy awareness and political insight to identify leads that could result in profitable revenue growth for the Agency.

May serve as a key client contact to respond to questions, provide required communications and be responsible for a successful client engagement

Assist with the development of schedules and outlining staff duties, if the participant is self-directing services considering directing services and supports

Completes online Medicaid applications on the client’s behalf under the observation of the Director of Client Relations

Assist in the implementation process of new contracts.

Completing home visits as necessary to aid in this process.

Essential Skills:

Knowledge of the operation of Age & Disable waivers and community-based services.

Working knowledge of services and supports available through Medicaid waiver, Medicare and/or other third-party payers.

Working knowledge of community-based resources for individuals with disabilities and/or seniors

Experience collaborating with other formal and informal supports to achieve a common goal.

Experience developing relationships with institutional and/or community-based organizations.

Excellent assessment skills

Excellent screening and interviewing skills

Excellent communication and presentation skills

Organizational, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills

Ability to multi-task and prioritize work.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Computer proficiency; Microsoft Word, Excel, WinZip

Implementing the Age & Disable and TBI waivers and improving access to the Medicaid HCBS program supports.

Meeting with potential waiver participants, determining waiver eligibility and offering individuals the choice of participation in the age & disable and TBI waivers.

Reviewing, submitting and monitoring a waiver application.

Providing training and technical assistance to Waiver Service Providers on the needs of individuals with disabilities and how to develop waiver Service Plan.

Proven experience in healthcare, marketing, or community outreach roles

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish professional relationships.

In-depth knowledge of home care services, including Medicaid regulations and reimbursement processes

Strong networking abilities with a demonstrated track record of successfully establishing and maintaining relationships with healthcare providers and community stakeholders.

Ability to deliver effective presentations and engage diverse audiences.

Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation and car insurance

Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Must have a previous TB test in the last year. If a TB test wasn’t completed in the last year, a new TB test needs completed.
