2nd Shift, Monday - Friday, 4:00pm - 1:00am
JOB PURPOSE
The After Hours Dispatcher’s primary function is to coordinate the timely movement of customer's product in a safe, efficient manner, in compliance with company rules and DOT regulations. The position will assign workloads to available drivers, monitor load movements and resolve delivery and scheduling issues that arise afterhours. The role is dynamic and encompasses various tasks from multiple departments and requires strong problem solving skills.

QUALIFICATIONS & NECESSARY SKILLS

50% Daily communication with drivers for load progress and logistical planning. Responsible for identifying and resolving daily service and scheduling issues, daily communication with drivers for load progress and logistical planning with the goal of timely pickup and delivery of all customer orders while maintaining customer expectations. This includes relaying dispatch assignments to drivers, load planning freight routes when changes need to occur with preset dispatch plans if available drivers or other impacting situations arise. Ensure efficient utilization of drivers and equipment. Inform and escalate service issues to management as appropriate.
10% System updates of driver and dispatch information and Samsara monitoring. Accurately prepare and process data and paperwork including but not limited to maintaining driver activities in TMW, driver hours of service, safety violations and other required items
10% Monitor and promote safety and DOT compliance in all areas. Monitor driver’s hours of service to prevent DOT violations and customer service failures.
10% Manage equipment breakdown and vehicle maintenance after hours.
10% Effectively communicate with customer on a regular and timely basis regarding issues impacting the customer and/or their service expectations, communicate interdepartmentally to resolve customer issues.
10% Training drivers on functions and processes necessary to be successful.
Ability to communicate effectively and in a professional manner.
Fluent in English, both written and spoken for communication with external and internal customers.
Ability to type 45 WMP with minimal errors
Moderate skills in MS Excel
Moderate skills in MS Outlook
Moderate skills in MS Word
Moderate skills in Adobe Acrobat
High accuracy of inputting data while working with various data platforms. The ability to multitask is advantageous.
Strong problem solving skills
Strong ability to make positive outcomes when conflicting issues arise with external and internal customers.
Excellent phone and email etiquette.
Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma required.
Prior experience in the transportation industry including 1-2 years of dispatching, terminal assistant, customers service or related experience within the industry.
Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations required.
Bi-lingual Spanish, fluently in both written and spoken language required.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS, NOT REQUIRED
Bachelor’s Degree in Business related field.
