Pro tops is Hiring a Purchasing Specialist Near Monroe, NC

Purchasing Manager is responsible for; Cost reduction, lead-time reduction, inventory reduction, resolution of quality issues with suppliers, support company needs, improve reports, place and expedite PO’s, process vendor returns, assist to resolve vendor invoice discrepancies. Additional duties include coordinating with team members on goals set by management.

General Responsibilities and Functions:

  • Expedite delivery of materials to meet orders or schedules.
  • Meet/exceed procurement targets that contribute strongly to company’s strategy development.
  • Professionally negotiate agreements/contracts to assure price, terms, conditions and performance of supply base most favorable to business success.
  • Represent the company and conduct business both internally and externally as a procurement professional.
  • Analyze material requirement from forecast, back order report and availability reports.
  • Purchase all non-production related supplies to support administration, service and maintenance
  • Ensure that orders received are accurate
  • Coordinate return of defective material.
  • Update order status, tracking info
  • Enter purchase orders and distribute to appropriate personnel.
  • Issue purchase orders to suppliers, distributors and manufacturers
  • Ensure goods received are not damaged and received in full
  • Handle goods throughout the purchasing process
  • Work closely with relevant departments to ensure products purchased are in line with the needs of the company
  • Maintain current awareness of industry market trends
  • Conduct competitor analysis to identify popular products and competitive pricing
  • Keep accurate records of purchases made
  • Control Stock/Inventory of various products 

Education, Qualifications and Skills:

  • High School diploma
  • Purchasing certification is preferred. APICS certification is preferred
  • 2 years’ experience in purchasing, planning and inventory
  • Experience working as a purchasing assistant in the industry is preferred
  • Good understanding of popular products in the industry
  • Strong knowledge of industry market trends and conditions
  • Excellent interpersonal and social skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Positive and professional demeanor
  • Flexible to travel to meet with suppliers, distributors and manufacturers as required
  • Able to lift, carry and move a minimum of 25lbs
  • QB experience beneficial 

Minimum Qualifications:

Some college courses in business and related fields. Ability to use calculator and perform 4 function math. Ability to compute percentage rate, ratio and interpret graphs. Good phone skills. Experience in a manufacturing setting. Ability to work with the team to meet the goals set by management
