AUTO BODY REFINISH PREPPER

High volume Auto Collision & Hail Center seeking EXPERIENCED prepper for our Paint department.

SUMMARY: The Refinish Prepper is responsible for preparing all assigned vehicles for the refinishing and reassembly processes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Thoroughly reviews each repair order prior to beginning work on vehicle
• Completes all paint preparation processes for vehicles according to factory specifications
• May prime, edge or jam replacement parts
• Knows how to properly sand and prep for paint, new parts and blend panels
• Knows how to properly sand and feather edge surface for primer
• Able to properly block panels for refinishing
• Able to mask and spray the correct amount and coats of primer
• Able to mask all panels and cover car to minimize tapelines and overspray on the vehicle
• Contributes to maintaining acceptable cost per paint labor hour
• Knows status of assigned vehicles and helps problem solve on getting and keeping all vehicles on schedule on-time delivery
• Consistently utilize all required safety equipment and follows proper refinishing procedures in compliance with OSHA guidelines
• Adheres to all requirements hazardous waste disposal
• Follow vendors procedures to maintain all tools and requirement, including maintenance of paint booth
• Maintain a clean and organized work space
• May perform buffing and finishing duties at the end of each paint job
• Constantly strives to produce the highest quality of workmanship with goal being "zero comebacks”
• Perform other duties as assigned by management

COMPETENCIES/ SKILLS:

• Valid driver's license
• 1-4 years body shop experience strongly preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time

• Periodic lifting and carrying objects over 50 pounds
• Reaching above and below shoulder level
• Extended periods of kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping to complete or inspect repairs
• Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination
• May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, high level of dust and noise in repair center
• MUST be able to wear protective equipment, including respirators

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
