We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Tax Accountant to join our finance team. The Tax Accountant will be responsible for managing all aspects of sales tax compliance, including preparation and filing of sales tax returns, accounting and reporting of sales tax collected from direct sales and on behalf of Partners, and providing assistance to the Company's Partners with any sales tax related matters or questions. The Tax Accountant will report directly to the Controller. 

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of sales tax compliance, including preparation and filing of sales tax returns, Canadian VAT, and UK VAT.
• Account for and report sales tax collected from direct sales and on behalf of Partners.
• Perform monthly close procedures relating to the reconciliation of sales tax general ledger accounts.
• Maintain sales tax exemption certificates and records for the Company and our Partners.
• Facilitate any sales tax audits.
• Assist sales reps and Partners with any sales tax related matters or questions.
• File and maintain business licenses and registrations.
• Support Controller with special projects and workflow process improvements.
• Collaborate with other team members to provide comprehensive tax and accounting solutions.
• All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in tax accounting with a focus on sales tax
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially excel.
• Understanding and working knowledge of tax laws and regulations.
• Experience with NetSuite or other enterprise accounting/practice management systems (SAP, Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics) and sales tax software (Avalara) is strongly preferred.
• Strong communication, documentation, and analytical skills.
• Ability to meet aggressive deadlines and lead times.
• Ability to work in a high-volume, fast moving, start-up environment.
