Private Label Foods is Hiring an Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Technician Near Rochester, NY

Job Title: Electro Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Class: Full Time - Hourly

Shift: 9am-6pm Monday-Thursday, 6am-12pm Fridays (Flexibility required)

Pay: Negotiable/Experience Based

The Job Duties:

Perform tasks related to the maintenance of production equipment and facility machinery and parts. Provide support and expertise in dismantling, laying out, moving, changing, or erecting machinery or equipment.

  • Maintain and repair equipment from blueprints, schematics and drawings. Identify components and request replacement parts when required. Lead small projects and provide autonomous support for shift needs.
  • Responsible for keeping accurate preventative maintenance records.
  • Perform reactive machine maintenance using knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems, gear boxes, pumps, motors, conveyors, etc.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance as instructed by the Plant Management.
  • Diagnose/troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Report any issues to Plant Manager.
  • Keep an accurate inventory of parts on-hand.
  • Communicate with Purchasing on need for parts and tools.
  • Learn/train operators in set up and operation of equipment.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions in equipment and machinery with or without the aid of blueprints, operations manuals or schematics.
  • Maintain and be accountable for specific production areas while assisting management in the day to day and long term planning and productivity of the Plant.
  • Plan and perform preventative maintenance to production and associated equipment as required.
  • May be assigned to complete plant production tasks during peak season to maintain high productivity and quality.
  • Initiate ideas in any cost saving or waste reduction projects.
  • Help to produce the highest quality product.
  • Adhere to all company Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to safety.
  • Report any food safety, health & safety, quality issues as necessary.

Background Profile:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • 5 years of experience as a maintenance mechanic.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with Maintenance and Production Staff.
  • Willingness to train other Mechanics and learn new skills.
  • Able to use computer system for maintenance purposes (CMMS, Word, Excel email).
  • Ability to keep neat and accurate records.
  • Above average problem solving and troubleshooting skills to minimize Production down time.
  • Good math skills.
  • Experience in a Food manufacturing facility.
  • Experience with High Speed packaging and labeling equipment.
  • Experience with controls for conveyor systems and power transmissions, pneumatic, hydraulic, pumps, valves, motors.
  • Experience with 120/240/460 VAC, Single & 3 phase power, 120-24 AC and DC control circuits
  • Experience with mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience with plumbing and pipefitting.
  • Experience with High Pressure Steam systems.
  • Knowledge of PLCs and VFDs.
  • Welding experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25lbs/12kg.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50lbs/23kg.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; sit, bend, talk, and hear.
  • Heights; work on a ladder, scissor lift or extended man lifts.
  • Work may require employee to be exposed to inclement weather conditions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $29.00 - $35.00 per hour
