Contract:

260 Day, 12 month contract

Salary range: based on experience $28.00 - $30.00 per hour.

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Human Resources, the Payroll/Benefits Specialist is responsible performing accounting functions involved in the preparation and processing of the District’s payroll; tax and benefit payments and reporting requirements; reconciliation of preparation of the District’s STAR report and updating of employee retirement and benefit deductions and changes; assist in the reconciliation of insurance payments; and providing assistance in the completion of employment/unemployment forms, verifications and screening of employment applications.

Major field of study or degree emphasis:

2 year college degree in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Human Resources or related areas

Essential knowledge and specialized subject knowledge required to perform the essential functions of the job:

• Knowledge of relevant laws, statutes, rules or guidelines pertaining to payroll, benefit administration and accounting practices and procedures.
• Knowledge of district administrative policies and procedures and practices.
• Knowledge of accounting procedures, UFARS, and operations involved in the processing and generation of payroll and benefits.
• Knowledge of employee contracts and in interpreting provisions as it pertains to the processing of payroll, deductions and benefits.
• Knowledge of business productivity software (e.g. word processing, spreadsheet, internet browsers, email, etc.) and specialize district financial/accounting software (e.g. Smart Finance/HR, etc.).
