Start up company that has been spun out of the University of Utah looking for an FPGA/DSP Engineer.

Job Title: Embedded Systems Engineer

We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Embedded Systems Engineer to join our team. You re responsibilities will include designing, developing, and testing embedded systems and software for our multi-product offerings.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation of embedded solutions, meeting product research and development objectives. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in embedded systems, programming languages, and hardware design, and excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  1. Design and develop embedded systems and software solutions based on market specific use cases and specifications.
  2. Collaborate team members to define system architecture, select components, and ensure seamless integration of hardware and software.
  3. Write and document efficient and reliable code, utilizing programming languages such as C/C .
  4. Conduct thorough testing and debugging of embedded software and systems to ensure high quality and performance.
  5. Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system requirements, design specifications, and test plans.
  6. Identify and resolve technical issues and challenges.
  7. Stay updated with the latest industry trends and advancements in embedded systems technology and apply them to enhance product performance and functionality.
  8. Design for high availability and manufacturing scale up including hardware bring-up, testing, and troubleshooting.
  9. Significant customer, subcontractor, and supplier interactions

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's or master s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering with several years experience in high performant real-time applications.
  2. Proven experience in embedded systems development, including design, programming, and testing.
  3. Strong proficiency in programming languages such as C/C for embedded systems.
  4. Familiarity with microcontrollers, microprocessors, and other hardware components commonly used in embedded systems.
  5. Experience with real-time operating systems and embedded Linux.
  6. Proficiency in debugging and troubleshooting embedded systems
  7. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, innovation-based environment.
  8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience with wireless communication protocols such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or Zigbee.
  2. Knowledge of hardware description languages (HDL) such as VHDL or Verilog.
  3. Familiarity with embedded software development tools and environments, including compilers, debuggers, and integrated development environments (IDEs).
  4. Understanding of software development methodologies, version control systems, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  5. Experience with low-power design and optimization techniques for embedded systems.
  6. Knowledge of safety-critical standards and practices, such as ISO 26262 or IEC 61508.
