Prince William County Government is Hiring an ACT Therapist II - Forensic (Clinical Services Caseworker) - TEMP Near Prince, VA

Prince William County Community Services is seeking qualified applicants to fill a temporary Therapist II (Clinical Services Caseworker) position for a recovery oriented, community-based team: Assertive Community Treatment (ACT). The team serves adults with serious mental illness (e.g., schizophrenia) or co-occurring serious mental illness and substance use disorders (e.g., schizophrenia and alcohol dependence). Services are primarily provided outside the office in the community, residential settings and/or client's homes and focuses on supporting clients in their recovery. The candidate will conduct substance use assessments, interventions, counseling/therapy, treatment, and work with clients within a stage of change/stage of treatment framework.
ABOUT THIS ROLE
This position is as the Forensic Specialist on the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Program. The ACT program provides wrap around services to SMI and Co-occurring adult clients in the community. The Forensic Specialist works with ACT clients and specializes in working with clients who are involved with the criminal justice system. The mission of the ACT team is to provide evidenced-based, multidisciplinary, wrap around services to adult clients in the community. ACT clients have high needs and are often co-occurring, involved in the legal system, unstably housed, and in need an multi-pronged approaches.
Job duties include:
• Provides services to individuals with serious mental illness, co-occurring and substance use disorders who are involved in the criminal justice system
• Provides court ordered MH assessments
• Maintains a caseload of clients and functions as ACT team member-working with other clients and sharing cases
• Provides specialty services as a Forensic Specialist
• Provides counseling, case management, clinical interventions, and other supports, primarily in the community
• Conduct comprehensive assessments and risk assessments
• Collaborate on the development and implementation of the treatment plans
• Complete clinical documentation as specified and within the mandatory timeframe
• Link, refer and monitor other services
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Master's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related behavioral science field
• 1-2 years of related post-graduate professional experience providing individual/group therapy services in a human services environment (9 months of clinical supervised experience can be substituted for 1 year of related post-graduate professional experience).
• Currently possess, LPC, LCP, or LCSW or ability to obtain LPC or LCSW license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
PREFERENCES
• Experience working on ACT Teams
• Experience working with SMI/Co-occurring individuals who are involved in the criminal justice system
• Experience providing therapeutic services and case management to adults and their families with mental health/serious mental illness, substance abuse and co-occurring disorders
• Knowledge of the MI, CBT, Trauma Informed clinical practices
• Experience collaborating with internal and external partners and across systems
• Experience working in a team environment and/or with shared clients
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
• Must possess a valid driver's license;
• Must pass DMV record check;
• Must pass TB test;
• Certification in First Aid and Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation, as required;
• Offer of employment is contingent upon the candidate passing a fingerprinted-based national criminal history record check.
• Child Protective Services Requirements: Effective 1999, mandated by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services 12VA35-105-400 rules and Regulations for Licensing Providers by the Department of Behavioral Health and Development Services related to Criminal Registry Checks, a search of the registry of founded complaints of child abuse and neglected maintained by the Department of Social Services.
WORK SCHEDULE
Monday – Friday, 8-4 or 9-5; 12-8; schedule varies; rotating holidays and weekends

STARTING SALARY RANGE

 $38.06 - $45.21
