POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Coordinating Supervisor, the Instructional Supervisor of WorldLanguage is responsible for providing guidance to staff and external stakeholders inparticipating schools with World Language programs. The incumbent of this position is responsible for monitoring World language programs and initiatives, and executing administrative responsibilities as required. The Instructional Supervisor provides K-12 educators with instructional resources, materials and professional learning opportunities.The incumbent of this position develops a budget based on analysis of needs and implements processes and procedures for evaluating programs and personnel.

Salary Range:$111,842-$169,171

Detailed Description


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Supervises the implementation and expansion of K-12 World Language programs;
  • Works with foreign entities, sister schools and state and international governments, as well as college and university partners to enhance opportunities for students and?staff of World Language programs;
  • Develops and manages the approved budget for World Language programs; maintains strict fiscal accountability through the review of financial documents and? procurement requests for central office operations and for requests submitted by schools utilizing departmental funding;
  • Assists in the planning, designing and coordination of professional development and training to school-based staff on effective instructional strategies, curriculum? resources and technology integration;
  • Provides leadership and support to educators and support personnel to ensure compliance with laws, policies and regulations pertaining to program goals;
  • Provides leadership to schools in the implementation of research-based and high impact practices that promote student achievement;?
  • Observes and monitors educators through formal and informal observations;
  • Monitors all World Language programs and assists with enrollment study and?analyses of other related program data;
  • Evaluates and monitors the preparation of curriculum documents, correlation of? instructional materials/documents and units of study;
  • Engages in collaborative planning with other disciplines in support of district, state and/or national assessments;
  • Prepares reports required by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) and responds when requested to informational requests by other offices and outside organizations;
  • Evaluates assigned personnel in alignment with guidelines and procedures;
  • Examines current practices to identify opportunities to bring innovation to staff and students;
  • Assists Human Resources with screening, interviewing and selection of department? personnel; and
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Job Requirements


QUALIFICATIONS:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Fluent in one world language;
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with the Microsoft suite and Google applications;
  • Competence in developing and leading professional development sessions;
  • Ability to support the recruitment and retention of educators for World Language?programs;
  • Experience working with foreign community partners and governments desired;
  • Experience in developing curriculum framework;
  • Ability to coordinate complex operations and activities in multiple settings;
  • Ability to work with diverse populations;
  • Expertise in the range of issues and programs relevant to World Language and/or related fields;
  • Experience in the design and/or implementation of innovative techniques in World Language and/or related fields;
  • Considerable knowledge of budgeting and reporting requirements;
  • Demonstrated leadership and administrative competency; and
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills and effective human relations skills.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a world language or closely related field required. A minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience with?a minimum of two (2) years of administrative and/or supervisory experience required.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Holds or is eligible for an Advanced Professional Certificate appropriate to the area of assignment issued by the Maryland State Department of Education; Administrator I Certification required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:?

Oversees and provides guidance and direction to assigned personnel.
