Title: Athletic Director/Student Activities Coordinator
Reports To: Principal
FLSA Status: Exempt
Summary: To provide school-based leadership in the planning and implementation of all athletic and co-curricular activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Supervises halls, cafeteria, and school campus during the day and supervises all interscholastic programs and activities.
- Develops and coordinates a comprehensive program of student activities for all students while creating an atmosphere that embraces diversity and promotes exemplary sportsmanship and mutual respect.
- Provides for the efficient handling of all athletic and student activity funds noting budget limitations and proper bookkeeping procedures, in addition to supervising ticket sales, part-time workers, officials, security personnel and financial expenses for all home games.
- Chairs the following committees: (a) faculty committee for recognition of students for scholarships, summer programs, and other awards; (b) the planning committee for graduation; (c) academic awards; (d) Homecoming committee; (e) student leadership team; (f) the Prom and After Prom committee.
- Advocates safety provisions in all sports for both participants and spectators and provides a periodic check of all facilities for safety and suitability, while assuming responsibility for the care, maintenance, and inventory of materials and equipment
- Meets periodically with administrators, class advisors, class and club sponsors to plan and coordinate assemblies, club activities, athletic awards, sports schedules (district and non-district) publicizing dates, sites, and times of contests, and reschedules events as needed if cancellations occur via the web and other available means, and budgets for respective activities while formulating a school calendar of events / newsletter for district- wide distribution to include faculty, staff, students, parents, and others
- Develops effective relationships while acting as a liaison with community groups, represents the school at athletic meetings - Virginia High School League (VHSL), District, Regional, State, and athletic conferences and workshops, enforces school’s compliance with all rules and regulations prescribed by the VHSL, District, and Regions while reviewing and approving eligibility lists for all interscholastic programs
- Maintains and supervises a communication system for publicizing and photographing student activities and athletic events utilizing all local newspapers, radio stations, school web site, and television stations for distribution of information as deemed appropriate including daily announcements, and district announcements for all faculty, staff and students.
- Makes necessary arrangements for transporting students for all scheduled athletic events.
- Evaluates and supervises the coaching staff while implementing established rules and regulations governing athletic contests in cooperation with the administration and maintains accurate records and reports as requested by the administration.
- Provides an opportunity for parents to have a clear understanding of athletic and student activities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE1. Holds a Collegiate Professional license with a specific endorsement in assigned area
2. Have acceptable ratings in instances where there is prior teaching experience/athletic
(either with this school system or other school systems).
3. Admin and Supervision Endorsement Preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESCERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSMust be a graduate of an accredited college or university and hold a valid certification to meet State requirements with specific endorsement in the area to which assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Ten-month employment. Salary to be determined by the School Board.
EVALUATIONPerformance of the position will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Prince Edward County School Board’s policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
