PRIMORIS is Hiring an Estimator - Power Delivery (FT) Near Fresno, CA
***TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS ROLE YOU MUST HAVE UTILITY CONSTRUCTION EXPERIENCE.***The Civil Estimator is responsible for collecting and analyzing data in order to estimate the labor, equipment, materials, subcontract, and ancillary costs required for assigned substation utility civil construction projects. The primary goal of the position is to track, bid, and secure profitable work for the company while maintaining an acceptable ratio of awarded projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, clients, and sub-contractors to develop constructability plans and estimates.
- Consult with industry experts and management to discuss estimates and resolve issues.
- Use computer software to calculate estimates.
- Evaluate a product’s cost-effectiveness or profitability.
- Recommend ways to make services and products more cost-effective or profitable.
- Work with other teams to prepare estimates and bids for clients.
- Develop project plans for the duration of the project.
- Ensure compliance with contract requirements.
- Prepare takeoffs and work with the project team to solicit and secure competitive sub-contractor proposals and pricing.
- Review budgets versus actual performance with project teams and take corrective action as necessary.
- Assist in writing work scopes and reviewing contract change order and field change order proposals.
- Assist in reviewing, estimating, and negotiating multiple project change orders.
- Ensure all required paperwork is submitted promptly and in accordance with company policies.
EDUCATION & MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- 1-2 years experience in the Utility or Heavy Construction industry in an estimating role or a role demonstrating the knowledge and ability to perform the work.
- Ability to read, interpret, and analyze civil construction drawings and specifications.
- Extensive knowledge of industry practices, procedures, and market trends.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Proficiency in computer skills related to estimating and job-tracking software.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong Critical Thinking Skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple efforts and priorities in parallel.
Desired:
- Previous utility construction experience.
- 3-5 years’ experience in the Utility or Heavy Construction industry in an estimating role or a role demonstrating the knowledge and ability to perform the work.
- Professional training and certification (AACE, ICEAA, etc.).
- Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid software.
- Ability to negotiate terms and conditions.
- Experience with scheduling software (P6, MS Project) and schedule development.
- Knowledge, experience, and ability to estimate some or all types of electrical utility construction work.
Compensation & Benefits:
- The salary range is between $100-175K DOE.
- Medical, Dental and Vision plan.
