Job Overview:

As a Concrete Paving Mechanic in the heavy civil construction sector, you will play a vital role in ensuring the successful completion of concrete paving projects. Working in collaboration with a team of construction professionals, you will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing various heavy equipment and machinery involved in concrete paving activities. Your expertise will contribute to the safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of concrete paving projects, adhering to industry standards and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operation of Heavy Equipment: Operate and maneuver heavy equipment used in concrete paving projects, including but not limited to concrete pavers, slipform machines, rollers, and skid steers, ensuring precise and accurate placement of concrete.
2. Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance checks on equipment to ensure proper functioning and address any mechanical issues promptly. Conduct repairs and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
3. Quality Assurance: Monitor concrete placement processes to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards. Make necessary adjustments to equipment settings to achieve desired concrete thickness, slope, and finish.
4. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and compliance with OSHA regulations. Identify potential safety hazards and take corrective actions to mitigate risks.
5. Team Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, supervisors, and fellow team members to coordinate paving activities and achieve project objectives within specified timelines. Communicate effectively to ensure smooth workflow and resolve any issues or challenges that arise during the construction process.
6. Material Handling: Assist in the handling and transportation of construction materials, such as concrete mixtures, aggregates, and reinforcement materials, using appropriate equipment and techniques.
7. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance, repairs, and operational activities. Prepare reports as required by project management, detailing progress, issues encountered, and solutions implemented.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Previous experience in heavy civil construction, particularly in concrete paving operations.
• Proficiency in operating and maintaining various types of heavy equipment used in concrete paving, with a strong understanding of machine mechanics and hydraulic systems.
• Knowledge of concrete mixing and placement techniques, including the ability to interpret project plans and specifications.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in the construction industry.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse team members.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift heavy objects and perform manual labor as required.
• Stamina to work in outdoor environments and withstand exposure to various weather conditions.
• Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, and overtime as needed to meet project deadlines.
