Centro Primeros Pasos (CPP) is a quality infant, toddler, and preschool child care center. We are a Spanish immersion program. We offer a true play-based (Vygotsky, Stanford influenced) curriculum delivered in a relationship-based and child-centered program.

We are a year-round school. We close 13 holidays per year as well as 4 weeks per year for staff vacations, and all staff are paid for these holidays and vacations. We offer 4 teacher in training days per year where the Center is closed and we focus on continuous improvement. We are also closed 3 days per year to "get ready" for the new school year.

Job Description:

• At CPP, teachers and assistants work in cooperative teams. All staff receive regularly scheduled coaching, mentoring and support from the Director.
• The Teacher will speak Spanish to the children 100% of the time, support the Center's curriculum and principles, manage the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom, and maintain a safe and caring environment. Our teaching method is child-centered and relationship-based, using a positive guidance approach.
• The teaching team actively engage and encourage children, and observe and document their development. The teaching team communicates daily with parents.
• Our team is committed to respectful interactions and relationship building with children, families and other staff. We believe in advancing equity, and we work in harmony, welcoming all kinds of families to our beautiful 7,150 square foot facility constructed in 2019.

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required (in the US or candidate's home country.)
• 1 year classroom experience in early childhood education settings preferred but not required
• Ability to lift 35 pounds
• In good health with current physical health screening (every 2 years thereafter)
• Current immunizations
• Spanish required; some English required, sufficient to communicate with families.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Semester units in Early Childhood Education strongly preferred but not required
• California Child Development Assistant Teacher permit preferred but not required
• Spanish/English Bilingual

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $24.00 per hour
