Director of Clinical Services

Responsible To: Administrator and Director of Health Services or their designee.

Function:

Responsible for the development, monitoring and implementation of a Behavior Support Plan for residential program individuals with Intellectual Disabilities and Co-Occurring Serious Mental Illness. The overall goal of teaching the staff to utilize the elements of the plan. Implements the Behavior Support Plan by providing a wide variety of therapeutic services to the individual and support services to the staff.

Specific Duties: Include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Direct observation of individual behavior, staff interactions and when appropriate family dynamics to develop an effective behavioral plan for assigned individuals.
  • Training and education of management, supervisor, and direct care employees on basic information on mental health, developmental disability, and psycho-social concepts necessary to work successfully with the individuals in placement with the agency.
  • Instructs the staff in the implementation of the Behavior Support Plan.
  • Serve as a part of the treatment team to address individual’s psychiatric needs. This includes evaluating individuals during crisis periods using mental status exams, making recommendations to residential staff to assist in the management of psychiatric symptoms and making recommendations to the team.
  • Perform a variety of therapeutic activities with the staff and individual in support of the Behavior Support Plan goals including establishing a routine and expectations with the individual and participating with the staff and individual in the routine i.e., homework, household chores, assisting the staff in training the individual in activities of daily living such as personal hygiene, dressing, etc.
  • Document all observed or reported individual’s behaviors, activities, family interactions and health issues as required by the Behavior Support Plan, agency policies / procedures and DDS policies and regulations.
  • Performs any other related duties as requested by Director of Health Services, Administrator and/or Psychological and Psychiatric Consultants.
  • Requires basic computer skills with knowledge in Microsoft Office.
  • Requires on call responsibilities.

Education:

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker. LCSW is preferred. LMSW Required and at least two years' experience in the field of intellectual disabilities

License/Certification:

  • Driver's License (Required)

Work Location: Must be able to travel to meetings and appointments throughout the state.
