Position Information:

The Service Advisor is responsible for scheduling service work in the service department and for selling additional needed service to clients.

Duties and Responsibilities:

4Maintain client satisfaction index rating at or above American Honda standard of 92.5.

4Accomplish the budget that has been established by the Fixed Operations Management Team.

4Greet clients in a timely, friendly manner, in person or on the phone. Let clients who are waiting in line know that they will be helped soon.

4Perform a thorough walk around of incoming vehicles, noting any damage or illuminated dash lights on the walk around sheet. Complete the walk around sheet in its entirety. Offer and explain the Multi Point Inspection.

4Schedule appointments using the appointment forms as a guideline, obtain client and vehicle data, to include email address and accurately document in the appointment.

4Communicate with clients to determine the nature of the mechanical concerns and service needs, document on the repair order (or appointment) so the technician can “fix it right the first time.”

4Advise clients about any required maintenance, using maintenance menus, or declined services from previous visit by checking service history in Automate.

4If additional work is needed; communicate with the client to explain our findings (prioritize in order of importance), the cost of repairs, and what time we will complete vehicle.

4Obtain client’s signature on Repair Order after handwriting on the signature line an estimate of the work to be performed.

4Stay in contact with client throughout the day by performing “progress checks”. All clients are to be contacted 3 hours after dropping their vehicle off and given a status report of their vehicle.

4When client’s vehicle is completed; accurately final bill the repair order, transferring the pertinent technician notes to the invoice, verify that all parts are billed on the correct line.

4Compare the final invoice with what was quoted, if there is a difference, compare the repair order with the final invoice and fix the discrepancy.

4Once the invoice is completed, perform an Active Delivery with the client (either in person or on the phone).

Qualifications:

High school diploma or the equivalent. Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information. Two years of experience in a dealership position or in a retail selling position is preferred. General knowledge of vehicle mechanical operations is preferred. Professional personal appearance. Excellent oral and written skills. Must be computer literate.

Working Conditions:

The Service Advisor works in the Service department; office, lane and shop area. Position requires stooping, bending and moving throughout the Service department. May lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Will work at a desk with a computer and telephone. He/she will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes and other hazardous and non-hazardous materials. Road-testing of vehicles may be required. The Service Advisor will be required to wear a dealership uniform and name badge at all times.
