Role Summary:
The Project Engineer/Assistant Project Manager - Life Sciences will assist and support the Senior Project

Manager including planning, design, communication, coordination and project resolution to ensure that

all construction project goals are met. The PE/APM will assist in overall planning and execution of the

contracted scope of work including preparation and presentation of cost proposals, submittal and

schedule management, project budget management, and maintenance of job cost reports. S/he will assist

in the review and approval of design and construction drawings, bid documents, pay applications, change

orders, etc. The PE/APM will work with accounting on reporting requirements including coordination of

accounting accruals at month and quarter end, job cost reporting, internal management reports, and

client billing.

Ideal Characteristics:
We are seeking a dynamic individual who enjoys coordinating projects and working collaboratively with

others, who is technically oriented and strategic in their thinking. Someone who understands people

well, works at a fast pace and can make decisions quickly.

Qualifications:
• 3-5 years’ experience working with a commercial general contractor

  • Preferred experience in life sciences/biotech industry
  • Ability to read and interpret building plans, with thorough understanding of estimating concepts and

system formats for preparing conceptual and final project budgets; experience with on screen take-

off applications and Bluebeam software for projects

  • Understanding of accounting systems, construction job costing and scheduling formats
  • BA/BS degree In Construction Management preferred, but not required Valid California driver’s

license, Class C and current automobile insurance required

  • Computer literate including proficiency with MS Office suite and MS Project - required
  • Competency with Blue Beam Revu program - Required
  • Prior experience developing effective working relationships with vendors, contractors and

tenants

  • Ability to orchestrate and lead project team meetings, draft and publish meeting minutes
  • Create and present oral and written communications in a clear and concise manner
  • Must be organized and task oriented, with ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented

environment

  • Comfortable with multiple deadlines, and adapt readily to changing priorities
