Pretorian Labs is Hiring a Clinical Chemistry and Hematology Lab Supervisor Near Cleveland, OH

The Clinical Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for the technical and scientific oversight of clinical chemistry, hematology, and immunoassay testing. Responsibilities include but are not limited to selection of test methods in conjunction with the laboratory director, establishing performance criteria for all methods and oversight of test performance, as well as verification of test performance, upon inception of the method and during the utilization of the method in the laboratory. Additional responsibilities include oversight of quality control for the laboratory and resolution of technical problems, as well as enrollment in an approved proficiency testing programs for all appropriate testing. The technical supervisor assures that all personnel are trained and assessed for competency at appropriate intervals for all test methods.

Responsibilities

  • Advises on new equipment and reagent purchases for the clinical blood lab.
  • Oversees validations, verifications and other projects as needed.
  • Develops and conducts investigational studies/experiments, test evaluations, method comparisons, and a variety of process improvement projects.
  • Designs and implements employee training and competency programs in accordance with CAP regulations.
  • Supervises the daily operations of the Clinical Laboratory team, including but not limited to assigning tasks, maintaining schedules, and establishing key performance indicators.
  • Performs duties of a technologist as necessitated by absence or peak workload.
  • Supervises day-to-day operations of clinical laboratory employees. Responsible for hiring, coaching, and counseling employees, including performance reviews, disciplinary action, and terminations in collaboration with the Laboratory Manager.
  • Monitors employee satisfaction and develops section strategies to improve employee satisfaction and retain employees.

o Works on issues where analysis of situations or data requires a review of relevant factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action.

  • Develops Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Ensures that all sections meet accreditation and compliance standards; ensures that all laboratory functions are consistent with Compliance guidelines.
  • Monitors, trends, and reviews all Quality Improvement indicators.
  • Provides oversight to all procedures within the department as defined in the Procedure Manuals
  • Reviews, resolves, and responds to incidents and safety reports.
  • Creates a culture of teamwork; establishes and leads effective work groups and teams.
  • Recommends and implements improvements necessary to achieve operational goals and to improve processes.
  • Identifies opportunities for and implements operational efficiencies to save cost for organization.
  • Adheres to regulatory requirements and policies/ procedures making a consistent effort to meet and improve quality and to ensure quality outcomes.
  • Maintains compliance with all company policies, procedures, and standards of conduct.
  • Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to always maintain confidentiality.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required:

  • MD, DO, or DPM and possess a current license to practice in the state in which the laboratory is located AND One year of laboratory training and experience in the specialty of high complexity testing in areas of laboratory responsibility. (Microbiology requires additional minimum of 6 months in subspecialty of service).
  • OR doctoral degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science with one year of laboratory training and experience in high complexity areas of laboratory responsibility.
  • OR master's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science with two years of laboratory training and experience in high complexity areas of laboratory responsibility.
  • OR bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science with four years of laboratory training and experience in high complexity areas of laboratory responsibility.One (1) year in an approved program or equivalent with certification/registry with an accredited recognized agency or organization (e.g., ASCP, AMT, etc.-- ASCP and NCA merged 10/23/09).
  • Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT),
  • Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) from the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists AMT
  • Three (3) years in a position with leadership responsibilities

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
