Prescott Metal is Hiring a CNC Machine Operator-Tubing Prep Near Biddeford, ME
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Read Blueprints to ensure part accuracy prior to machining.
Correctly document work orders.
Assist coworkers in tool selection for shop jobs (i.e. selecting correct drill, tap, countersink).
Operate and shut down CNC vertical bed mill and enclosed CNC milling machines following established procedures and all manufacturer safety requirements.
Basic machine operations to produce parts- primarily square tubing but also blocks, plates, and round stock.
Confirm that all safety devices are in place and operational.
Perform daily maintenance and safety checks.
Maintain a clean and organized work center daily.
Measure parts for accuracy and consistency.
Selects, positions, and aligns tooling in machine tool holder and confirms they are secured in place as well as kept sharp to maintain tooling for peak performance.
Use Bridgeport and Tap Table to drill/tap/countersink/counterbore operations as needed.
Consider pallet weight and stacking methods to maintain safe capacity.
Communicate regularly with supervisor and other machinists about workflow.
Maintain machine coolant as required.
Miscellaneous duties as assigned to help Prescott achieve its goals.
Inspection Requirements:
Ensure all pieces are first article inspected.
Verify material type, thickness, and quantity.
Check for any material defects or damage.
Verify correct orientation of all pieces.
Check all hole sizes on first piece to verify correct tooling setup.
Check first piece counter bore size, counter sink size and thread size.
High school/technical school diploma or equivalent.
Basic understanding of G-Code/M-Code.
FANUC controller knowledge desired.
Basic understanding of drills, taps, and countersinks.
Basic knowledge of cutting tools a plus.
Ability to use and understand precision measuring equipment.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Attention to detail.
Ability to follow directions, verbal, and written instructions.
Time management skills.
Good problem solving.
Fast learner with the desire to improve.
Good interpersonal communication skills.
Mechanically inclined- metal work knowledge preferred.
Prior machine operation background desired.
Basic programming knowledge desired.
Ability to read tape measure, dial caliper, depth gauge, micrometer, dial indicator and other various measuring instruments.
Complete training on the battery-operated pallet jack.
Physical Demands/ Work Conditions:
The Machine Operator stands/sits for 6-10 hours per day, walking, stooping, and reaching, as well as frequently lifting manually and/or moving material up to 50 pounds.
Typical manufacturing environment, subject to dust, metal shavings, machinery oil, and powder coating.
Frequently working with machinery that has pinch points and rotating parts.
