Job Summary and Qualifications

The VP of Quality and Performance Improvement is responsible for monitoring and evaluating the quality of care provided at Presbyterian/St Luke’s Medical Center and Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children., and for ensuring overall quality, risk management and infection control. The VP will direct all hospital wide quality management efforts including achievement of Regulatory Compliance, Core Measures, HCAHPS improvement and reduction of Hospital Acquired Conditions. Leads an environment of quality that is data and evidence driven and develops systems to objectively measure outcomes of care in the inpatient and outpatient settings. Creates a quality management department that is skilled in performance improvement methodology. Fosters performance improvement knowledge, execution, and culture within the organization. Presents quality data, analysis and interpretation to senior management, medical staff/physician committees and department directors for review. Partners and collaborates with the management team and medical staff, facilitating teamwork and the achievement of shared goals. Responsible for operations of the Quality Management department and other assigned departments.

The VP of Quality and Performance Improvement will direct the clinical risk management program, including functions of clinical risk management, claims management, program administration, risk management education, regulatory preparedness and education for this facility. Reporting to the CMO, this individual will be responsible for coordinating those systems necessary for identification, evaluation, monitoring, reduction and/or elimination of professional and general liability risk exposures. This individual will provide counseling and education to facility leadership, clinical personnel, board of governors and medical staff members related to risk exposures including risk prevention and risk reduction. The VP will participate in the management and support of professional liability litigation at the direction and under the guidance of the HCI Department of Claims.


What qualifications you will need:
  • Current licensure in the State of Colorado as a Registered Nurse, or current active multistate Registered Nurse license
  • CPHQ or other Quality Certification preferred
  • Baccalaureate degree required; Graduate degree in Nursing or other healthcare related field required; doctoral study preferred.
  • Minimum of five years progressive experience in healthcare quality management, including management of individuals, teams, and regulatory compliance, i.e. JCAHO, CMS, and State Department of Health and Environment
  • Ability to analyze detailed reports, statistical data, and financial reports
  • Demonstrated success in quality measures such as Core Measures
  • Prefer experience in obtaining American Nurse’s Credentialing Center Magnet designation
