Key Responsibilities:
Patient Transport:
Safely and efficiently transport patients to and from various locations within the rehabilitation facility, including therapy rooms, treatment areas, and diagnostic testing areas.
Ensure patients are comfortable and secure during transportation, using appropriate equipment and techniques to transfer patients safely.
Assistance with Mobility:
Provide assistance to patients with mobility limitations, including those using wheelchairs, walkers, or other assistive devices.
Assist patients in and out of beds, chairs, and therapy equipment as needed, following established protocols for patient safety.
Patient Support:
Offer emotional support and encouragement to patients during transportation, fostering a positive and supportive environment.
Communicate effectively with patients to address any concerns or preferences related to transportation and mobility assistance.
Equipment Maintenance:
Ensure that all transport equipment, including wheelchairs, stretchers, and mobility aids, are clean, functional, and properly maintained.
Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance issues to the appropriate personnel for prompt resolution.
Coordination with Healthcare Team:
Collaborate with rehabilitation therapists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient transportation and ensure smooth transitions between appointments and therapy sessions.
Communicate relevant information about patients' mobility and transportation needs to the healthcare team as needed.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in patient transport or a related healthcare setting preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
Ability to lift and move patients safely and comfortably.
Basic knowledge of medical terminology and patient care practices.
