Provide assistance as requires in all dietary functions and housekeeping functions as directed and instructed. Must be able to treat resident and institutional information as confidential. Must also provide adequate, prompt, and accurate assistance as directed in specific of dietary functions and comply with established policies and procedures and sanitary standards.
Specific Responsibilities:
1. Obtains food supplies as directed.
2. Assists in preparation of foods as directed.
3. Prepares trays and serves foods according to menus. Check special diet trays with diet orders before distribution.
4. Collects and strips trays for dishwashing.
5. Performs dishwashing procedure, including pots and pans, and all equipment.
6. Sets up for next meal.
7. Performs cleaning duties in kitchen, serving areas, employee dining room and main dining room as scheduled and directed. Cleans refrigeration equipment as scheduled.
8. Has some knowledge of special diets and who receives them.
9. Prepares and delivers snacks and nourishment as ordered by nursing units.
10. Attends required in-service programs.
11. Performs other related task as assigned.
Clean and disinfect all surface areas in the building, including but not limited to, furniture, wheel chairs, floors, walls, and glass.
Put out supplies for wings, such as, paper goods, linens, soaps, etc.
Assist in the training of new housekeeping employees.
Attend all required in-service training meetings throughout the year.
Attend departmental meetings when required.
Have an awareness and concern for patient comfort and safety.
Be able and willing to work weekends and holidays on a rotating basis as scheduled.
Replenish cleaning supplies daily.
Clean patient rooms daily.
Clean toilets, commodes, sinks, mirrors, pipes, etc., daily, giving special attention to commode interior and around flushing lip of commode.
Dust, mop, or vacuum all floors daily.
Pick up and empty waste paper baskets twice daily, morning and evening.
Crank up and wash down beds each Monday and Tuesday using a germicidal cleanser, or dust with feather duster as needed.
Dust light fixtures, clean air conditioners, window sills, and window grooves each Wednesday.
Spot check walls for dirty spots in patient rooms, toilets, and corridors, daily.
Clean and wash baseboards as required.
Dust all pictures, bulletin boards, and other hanging objects at least once (1) each week as needed.
Clean utility rooms, Special Care room, Nurse's stations, T.V. Lounges, etc. daily as needed.
Damp clean low ledges around building, nursing stations, T.V. rooms, fire extinguishers, etc. as needed.
Replenish supplies such as; paper towels, toilet tissue, cups, and fill soap dispensers daily.
Keep housekeeping closet clean and tidy.
Clean and vacuum patient dining room daily.
Clean and wet mop employee dining room daily.
Vacuum all offices, empty waste paper baskets, clean and dust all office furniture daily.
Clean, dust, empty waste baskets, dust mop and wet mop the Activity room, Physical Therapy room, Restrooms, and Public Restrooms, and front lobby daily.
Working Conditions:
1. Well-lighted, well-ventilated work area.
2. Stands and walks short distances most of the work day.
3. Subject to cold and hot temperatures in kitchen and storerooms.
4. Subject to burns, cuts and falls.
5. Lifting, carrying and moving food, supplies and equipment.
Qualifications:
1. Ability to follow oral and written orders in English.
2. High degree of personal cleanliness and hygiene.
3. Sense of responsibility.
4. Ability to work in close cooperation with others.
5. Previous experience in dietary or housekeeping work helpful.
