Job Description

The VP Finance & Administration reports directly to the President and, in partnership with the leadership team, is responsible for advancing the company’s mission, setting strategic goals and direction, and shaping the roadmap for the next phase of the company’s growth journey.

The VP Finance & Administration position requires a person who can implement and manage their responsibilities while honoring the company’s culture and core values of success.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee day-to-day and strategic activities of the finance, accounting and commercial pricing teams.
  • Work collaboratively with the leadership team to develop the strategic plan; develop a plan that aligns with overall business objectives.
  • Serve as a key strategic partner to the President on matters within finance but also related to overall business strategy, growth, and direction.
  • Build strong relationships with the local management team, corporate partners and other key partners.
  • Lead and make strategic decisions about fiscal policy, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, contract negotiations, and auditing.
  • Lead the annual operating plan process (budgeting) and provide financial projections and analysis to support decision-making.
  • Tell the story behind the numbers; determine what is driving current business performance and what is likely to predict future performance.
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and accounting standards.
  • Evaluate and manage financial risks, ensuring the implementation of effective insurance programs and other risk mitigation strategies.
  • Drive financial performance and business profitability through business partnerships, team development and best practices.
  • Overall responsibility for the management of cash to achieve key metrics and budget targets through receivables, payables, capital and payroll
  • Overseas the development of commercial pricing strategies, development of pricing and T&C’s, and the analytical review of opportunities
  • Others as may be assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • BS/BA (or equivalent) in Accounting or Finance; MBA and/or CPA preferred.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • 15 plus years progressive experience.

MOBILITY/TRAVEL:

  •  Up to 30% travel

SKILLS:

  • Functional Expertise. Proven experience as a forward-looking VP Finance & Administration that can help design/execute growth plans. Able to use financial insights to inform business strategy and decisions. Experience developing substantive relationships with external partners (auditors, suppliers, customers, etc.). Track record of driving growth through base business, major projects, M&A. Track record of increasing value in companies and growing businesses/scaling companies.
  • Relevant Industry Experience. Proven experience as a VP Finance & Administration or in a senior financial leadership role within the manufacturing sector. In-depth knowledge of manufacturing financial regulations, cost accounting, and industry-specific financial management best practices. Deep understanding of capital-intensive business models and related ROI frameworks.
  • Personal Characteristics. Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to work effectively at all levels and across all organizational lines. Ability to build trust and collaborate effectively with the executive team and other partners to make strategic decisions. Highly strategic but also willing to operate tactically with a high sense of urgency and execution speed when required.
  • Talent Development. Experience developing effective teams and building best-in-class organizations. An eye for talent and an inclination to invest in others.
  • Business Partner. Experience operating in an environment where Finance acts as a valued business partner, with deep knowledge of the business, its strategies and its execution.
  • Collaborative Leadership Skills. Must have the ability to quickly assimilate into the culture of the Company and work effectively as a business partner with the entire senior management team, especially the President. Must be collaborative and hands-on; encourages cross-functional cooperation and builds strong working relationships between the finance and operating teams. Must be forward thinking and open and receptive to new ideas. S/he is someone who thrives in an environment of continuous improvement.
  • Driving Results. A broad and well-rounded business executive with strong financial leadership experience, equally capable on both strategic and operational levels. Track record of executing business strategy as both a finance business partner and operating executive. The VP Finance & Administration must excel in driving business performance based on key performance indicators (KPIs) that are clearly aligned with the strategy and objectives of the company. The VP Finance & Administration must be a decisive leader and have the ability to prioritize effectively and focus on the most relevant issues.
  • Commercial Orientation. The VP Finance & Administration will be commercially minded and effective working both at strategic and tactical levels. He/she should demonstrate comfort in identifying and analyzing proposed transactions and business plans to advance the company’s goals and strategies, including business partnerships, acquisitions, product and service agreements, and financial support of sales activities.
  • Strong Business Acumen. The candidate must understand the levers on both the operational (strong detail orientation) and customer / commercial side of the business that leads to creation of value within the company. He/she must have a track record of having built outstanding and effective relationships with business leaders across the enterprise with strong credibility both internally and externally.
  • Excellent Communication Skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills; the ideal candidate will possess the ability to present his/her ideas in a clear, concise and compelling fashion to the President, Business leaders, Corporate partners and external bodies with exceptional command of facts and emotional IQ.
  • Strong Business Acumen. The candidate must understand the levers on both the operational (strong detail orientation) and customer / commercial side of the business that leads to creation of value within the company. He/she must have a track record of having built outstanding and effective relationships with business leaders across the enterprise with strong credibility both internally and externally.
  • Excellent Communication Skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills; the ideal candidate will possess the ability to present his/her ideas in a clear, concise and compelling fashion to the President, Business leaders, Corporate partners and external bodies with exceptional command of facts and emotional IQ.
