Precision Plumbing is Hiring a Project Engineer Near Matthews, NC

POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:

The basic functions of the Project Engineer are to:

  1. 1. Develop and implement a logistics and tracking system for all orders and deliveries to include assisting with site delivery reservations and needed equipment.
  2. Assist with employee security and clearance tracking requirements per General Contractor and/or Owner.
  3. Assist with tool and equipment rentals/returns and tracking of rented equipment.
  4. Develop a testing log and filing system for all site testing of all systems.
  5. Submittal review, processing, and tracking.
  6. RFI review, processing, tracking, and posting.
  7. Participate in productivity tracking and forecasting.
  8. Tracking most current drawings and updates.
  9. Change order pricing and development.
  10. Quality assurance, quality control and compliance checks.
  11. Attend jobsite meetings as required.
  12. Work within the commissioning process to organize pre-functional checklists, start-ups, tech coordination and other items required for a successful job start up and completion.
  13. Work with General Contractor(s) on miscellaneous reporting, meeting and updates.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. The Project Engineer must have excellent written communication skills.
  2. He/she must have problem solving ability, anticipating problems, and solving them with minimal costs.
  3. This individual must demonstrate the ability to handle difficult situations and perform well under pressure.
  4. This individual must be able to provide other employees with training, direction, and motivation.
  5. The Project Engineer must be able to assist with establishing schedules and monitor progress against those schedules.
  6. This individual must possess a high work ethic, moral and personal integrity, and honesty.
  7. He/she must be able to effectively communicate with suppliers, customers, trade partners and other Precision Plumbing employees.
  8. The individual must be mature, flexible, and self-motivated.
  9. The Project Engineer must exemplify professionalism in personal appearance, manner, dress, and leadership style.
  10. He/she must have excellent computer skills.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to accomplish (at a minimum) the position's skill areas. Listed below are the representative areas of knowledge, experience, and abilities necessary to meet the position's essential requirements.     1. Education : A high school diploma is required; a four-year college degree in Construction Management is preferred. Equivalent experience may be substituted to fulfill this requirement.
    2. Experience: Preferred 1-3 years of experience

AUTHORITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY:

    1. Authority :

The Project Engineer is granted all necessary authority to complete the tasks listed under the position description. This authority includes, but may not be limited to:

      1. The authority to take any reasonable action necessary to carry out the responsibilities of the position if it is consistent with established company policy and sound business judgment.
      2. This position does not have the authority to supersede the authorities granted to the Senior Project Manager, Project Manager or Foremen. All project decisions will be made by the Senior Project Manager, Project Manager and/or Foreman.
    1. Accountability:

This person is directly accountable to the Senior Project Manager and/or VP of Construction for the accomplishment of all aspects of the job to which he/she is assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. 1. The Project Engineer must be able to view blueprints, understand the scope of work, read the specs, and determine costs.
  2. 2. This individual must enter data to monitor labor, subcontractor costs, equipment rental costs and material costs against the estimate.
  3. He/she must maintain contact with and knowledge of suppliers and manufacturers of job-related material.
  4. The Project Engineer must attend job site meetings as needed.
  5. He/she must make regular job site inspections.
  6. This individual must maintain job budgets overseeing costs against estimates.
  7. He/she must ensure adequate staffing needs are met for the job.
  8. The Project Engineer must ensure needed equipment and materials are provided.
  9. This individual must maintain prompt removal of rental equipment from the site.
  10. He/she must conduct pre- and post-job meetings with plumber assigned to job.
  11. This individual must maintain proper documentation of the project (i.e., change orders, logbooks, contracts, certificates of insurance, etc.).
  12. He/she must negotiate change orders with the client and ensure that the change order is signed by the client prior to the work being performed.
  13. The Project Engineer ensures that work is performed only after the company has obtained all required licenses and permits.
  14. The Project Engineer must also ensure inspections are scheduled on a timely basis.
  15. This individual acts as a liaison between Precision Plumbing, customers, vendors, and inspectors.
  16. The Project Engineer maintains regular contact with the client and ensures good client relations.
