Precision Medicine Group is Hiring a Sr. Manager, Client Finance Near Bethesda, MD

The Senior Manager, Client Finance will oversee project & client finance management & forecasting efforts, monthly close procedures, and apply skills to co-develop strategies and lead cross-functional initiatives that drive value across the organization. This role will work closely with senior leaders across the organization.

Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to:

  • Manage set up of new clients including review of MSA's for rebates and discounts. Collaborate & make recommendations where applicable with legal, and other cross functional leads on contracting for finance related inputs, review of IP language as applicable, etc.
  • Oversee new contract engagements & assessing related contracts/projects including understanding contract components & ensuring accuracy of project set up.
  • Oversee new projects awarded in all accounting systems and files including verifying signatures, contracting entity, identifying revenue type, agreeing to Salesforce and following up on discrepancies, reading through SOW contracts for tracking of milestones/tasks, and intercompany amounts as applicable. Follow up with project leads on discrepancies as required.
  • Guide the Client finance team on project tracking related items. Report and present project financials to project leads/stakeholders.
  • Review/Address concerns around project tracking/funds compared to project budgets. Report and present project financials to project leads/stakeholders.
  • Guide the Client Finance Team on areas of financial project management & client relationship management.
  • Work with Controllers and business leaders in reviewing proposals/SOW’s and escalating any concerns or convergence initiatives that come out of project meetings.
  • Work closely with FP&A and senior management to recommend actions to drive client profitability.
  • Oversee hours and expenses for client projects incurred to track against forecast, assigned roles/rates based on information provided by project leads including mapping of new roles and rates and other revenue/cost adjustments where applicable.
  • Liaise/Collaborate with other finance teams regarding intercompany revenue/cost transactions and contracting. Manage IC Form 10 executions between project leads and finance teams including cost allocations, project budgets & scope changes.
  • Manage the business unit(s) project revenues in accordance with GAAP and client contracts.
  • Ensure client invoicing is accurate and in accordance with client contracts. Ensure unbilled aging is being managed. Follow up on past due AR. Escalate any invoicing concerns/issues as required.
  • Advise on project invoicing recommendations where applicable (i.e. pulling invoicing milestones forward with longer payment terms).
  • Oversee on monthly client accruals and submissions to clients.
  • Understand and elevate potential issues to ensure proper accounting and revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP. Manage year end ASC 606 compliance meetings & documentation.
  • In conjunction with FP&A, review business development opportunities with Senior management and prepare project revenue and business development opportunity variance analysis to budget and projection for Controllers and Senior management. Report on out of period revenue pickup for 90% pipeline awards.
  • For backlog revenue, prepare monthly project revenue forecast and comparisons to budget/plan.
  • For Pipeline revenue, collaborate with FP&A where applicable to ensure accuracy of overall revenue waterfall to budget/plan.
  • Ensure revenue workbook line items are completed and projects have no remaining fee or out of pocket unbilled or deferred items. Ensure all contract documents are saved for audit.
  • Oversee OOP/MR/Honoraria project costs compared to contracted amounts as well as other direct costs shared across projects/clients (data purchases, etc.).
  • Update staffing & bonus files for FTE's (new hires, terminations, forecasted hires & promotions) and liaise with business leaders and recruiting as applicable.
  • Secondary high level review of expense reports, invoices and/or credit card bookings for comparison to budget/forecast, new vendor approvals & documentation, high value payments.
  • Review & Analyze monthly general ledger account reconciliations for compliance with GAAP. Forecast expenses compared to budget/plan in coordination with cross functional teams.
  • Supervise monthly close process to ensure all financial information is reviewed and reporting deadlines are met.
  • Advise on intercompany transactions (including corporate trade bookings, inter office shared space & social costs, etc.). Management of other BU staff (captives) and allocation of payroll & other associated costs.
  • Manage communications with other finance department heads to support overall department goals and objectives.
  • Partner with corporate and external stakeholders with integration related activities as required.
  • Primary contact for audit oversight. Manage audit timelines & communications with audit team. Review & reconcile supporting documents for the annual audit. Prepare supporting documents & schedules for the audit. Manage up where audit deliverables will require additional collaboration/input.
  • Manage financial implications of business product development initiatives and working with product managers to review/track actual spend against project plan for capitalization efforts in collaboration with corporate guidance/oversight.
  • Manage the overall budget process, file, and PPT presentation - including collaboration with FP&A and meeting with cross functional leaders and corporate as applicable for inputs. Manage staffing models and staffing mix (internal & external contractors) to support revenue growth, create & document assumptions in modeling, review input from all parties for reasonableness and timing compared to prior periods and growth targets and strategic investments.
  • Key contributor in the development and implementation of new policies and procedures to enhance the workflow of the department and drive efficiencies
  • Advise staff on best practices in approach to client finances and on non-routine financial transactions.
  • Manage & mentor managers, direct reports & junior staff through career development including regular feedback & career meetings, goal setting & tracking progress to plan, managing growth & development opportunities, commitment to L&D with recommending training courses and the like.
  • Manage revenue and expense forecasts including driving meetings with cross functional teams and business leaders.
  • Partner with Controllers, FP&A and business leaders on staffing decision recommendations (level to hire/when to hire) by based on capacity models, utilization, and business pipeline.
  • Prepare/Review and Analyze and report monthly reporting package results to corporate and business leaders highlighting key drivers of past performance.
  • In conjunction with FP&A as applicable, prepare, review & present financial results to corporate executives, business leaders, and various cross-functional stakeholders

Qualifications:

Minimum Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum concentration accounting, finance or business
  • A minimum of 8 years relevant experience with at least 3 years in a supervisory role

  • Agency or Professional Services experience a plus
  • Month end close experience
  • Revenue Recognition experience
  • Project Accounting experience
  • Client Services/Client Facing experience

Skills: 

  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
